Getting a big brother for my F12 650i :-)
My S.O had a car accident at the beginning for Feb, and the insurance wrote that car off. After many test drives, we narrowed down the choice to three models. F15 X5 Xd50i, Mercedes GLE 250d 4Matic, Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.6 Limited. After much agonizing, we settled on a replacement... the F15 X5 Xdrive 50i :-)
I didn't grab any photos off the dealer website before they took the car down, so these will have to do for now. It's very well spec'd with some highlights being: * Bang and Olufsen Sound * Surround view * Park assist * Exclusive Nappa Mokka (NAMY) * Fineline Pure textured wood * Interior and Exterior Design Pure Experience * Adaptive suspension pack 'Professional' * Comfort seats with memory * Pano roof * 3rd row searing * Ambient lighting * Soft close doors * HUD * Adaptive LED headlights * Individual Exterior Line - Burnished Aluminium He/She (haven't decided yet) is currently wrapped in matte silver, which looks awesome, and all the chrome has been blacked out (apart from the kidney surrounds). Underneath the paint colour is mineral silver metallic A14. On the second test drive, I took my Surface Pro along and hooked the car up to ISTA+ for a full diagnostic, fully expecting the control unit tree to be lit up lit up like Christmas lights. To my joy, there were only 2 errors, and both had to do with the battery needing replacement. The car is currently being prepped and serviced, and I'll collect it after returning from a business trip next week. Right now I have to go and move our garage shelving around to make sure the 5-er and the 6-er fit side-by-side. |

Congrats! Never was a fan of matte silver but that actually looks good, Id say you made the correct choice out of the 3 by a mile the 50i performance is quite intoxicating. Not a day goes by of regretting not going for the 50i -_-

That looks nice. The other choices don’t seem to be choices at all.

I went from a 750i to the X5 50i, different animal indeed, especially after a nice tune.

Thanks folks! We are so looking forward to bringing it home. I managed to move our garage cabinets and shelving around to make sure that the 6-er and the x5 can fit side by side with ample room to open the doors.
The car is currently being prepped by the dealer. Only two technical issues that they need to look at are the driver door soft-close doesn't work (can feel and hear the motor working, just not pulling the door closed) and the HUD disappears on every 3rd (or so) startup. Other than that...just a service and groom to be done. I am also looking into a heated seat retrofit. The BMW parts of this are super cheap, and unlike so many other models the heating pads are not stitched into the seat foams or leather. The seat control modules are also the same across the entire range, so seat heating should be a simple FA coding job. Will keep you posted. |

Almost time to bring the beastie home. Just getting a few cosmetic things sorted and a complete groom done. Also waiting on BMW to transfer the connected drive services to New Zealand.

Here it is folks. The ride is awesome, and I love the fact that it handles like a sports car with the practicality of a SUV!
