Tone when entering the vehicle

I know this sounds really strange (it does to me, too), but when I exit the vehicle and go inside the store, coffee shop, etc. for a few minutes, and open the door on my return, I hear a perfect tone that lasts for approximately one second. It occurs regardless of whether I lock the door, although it is harder to hear as it coincides with the alarm unlock beeps. This just started in the past couple of weeks, so it is definitely a new "feature" of my car. <edit> I should mention that this is not like the usual sounds of the car "waking up". This is a very distinct tone. </edit>

Anyone else experienced this, or know what this tone is communicating?

Are you leaving the car running? Mine makes a tone when I leave it running and lock it to let me know the key is not inside the car.

No, I never leave my car running. It's shutdown and generally locked, although this morning I chose to not lock it in order to better hear the tone (I know I can turn off the alarm sounds, but I prefer them). It's very pronounced, and a perfect constant frequency tone that lasts approximately one second. I suspect this is some type of diagnostic tool for the techs, but that's just a swag on my part.

I have a call in to my service adviser, and will post any learnings to this thread when/if the "feature" is diagnosed.

Well, this little mystery has departed as quickly as it came. No more odd tone when opening the door.

No pun intended? 😂

It was indeed a very strange matter. I ordered this vehicle just like I wanted it, and know every sound she makes. After four years of ownership, this was a new sound I’d never heard before.
