2013 f15 tpms

How can I check what is missing (hardware) for a 2013 X5 (F15)? FA is without 2VB - I can add it and VO code but I am just wondering if I need some additionl unit (RDC) to be mounted or is it already part of the DSC unit as on newer model. Sensors mounted on wheels but cant found all the codings needed in the CAF files below. Not sure if VO code would work in this case. Any idea?

found in BDC_BODY - coded
FEM_01 > RemoteControl 30D0 > RC_RDC_ENABLE = aktiv

not found in ICM or ICM-V
ICMQL > Daten 3000 > IcmKod_B_S2VBA = verbaut

settings not found in DSC2
DSC_CT02M > DSC_CODIERDATEN_ALLGEMEIN 3000 > C_Funktion_RDCi_l = aktiv
DSC_CT02M > DSC_CODIERDATEN_ALLGEMEIN 3000 > C_Funktion_RPA_e = nicht_aktiv
DSC_CT02M > DSC_CODIERDATEN_RPA_CONTI 3002 > C_RPA_Extra = nicht_aktiv

coded
HU_NBT > EXBOX 3001 > RDC = aktiv
HU_NBT > EXBOX 3001 > RDC_DRUCK_TEMP = nicht_aktiv [Default]
HU_NBT > EXBOX 3001 > RDC_FORTSCHRITTSANZEIGE = nicht_aktiv [Default]
HU_NBT > EXBOX 3001 > REIFENUEBERWACHUNG_RDC_RPA = rdc
HU_NBT > EXBOX 3001 > RPA = nicht_aktiv

coded - but error appeared (probably due to the ICM not coded)
KOMBI L7_MID > ERM_Konfiguration 3004 > ST_TYR_RDC_ALIVE = aktiv
KOMBI L7_MID > ERM_Konfiguration 3004 > ST_TYR_RDC_TIMEOUT = aktiv
KOMBI L7_MID > FZG_Ausstattung 3003 > DSC_MIT_RPA = ohne_RPA [Default]

Should work, just follow instructions:
1-Add 2VB to FA
2-VO code BDC_Body,DSC2,HU_NBT,DKOMBI

Thanks - is it necessary also to write the modified FA to the car? Or add/activate is enough in step 1?

No use to add if you don't write it.

VO coding is not going to damage anything, if you code it and it doesn't work just simply remove it and code the same modules again. You are overthinking the process.

Friends car, he had some coding done using bimmercode already, I did not wanted to overwrite his coding by injecting VO default CAF files there - that is why I attempted FDL coding. Anyway, thanks for hints - will do a backup and then VO code to see if the TPMS starts reading. If not, I will revert to his old coding from the backup.

Thank you . Worked. FA writing is not necessary (only activation needed) - then the coding inject the correct CAF's

Hi, I am curious to how you got on with this? So your car historical had the standard FTM/RPA (flat tire monitoring) system that uses the ABS wheel speed sensor to detect a change in rotational circumference to let you know that a tire has lost pressure? You bought and fitted four TPMS valves, correct? And then coded the car and it worked?

My car has the standard FTM/RPA (flat tire monitoring) system that uses the ABS wheel speed sensor system, with no SA2VB option listed in my VIN Decoding, and the only "FA" from your earlier conversation that I can see listed in my VIN Decoding is the following: S2VFA Adaptive M chassis.

Very keen to see if there's anything I can do to have TPMS in my car without having to fit a lot of new additional systems and controllers etc. Thanks.

Did you read the thread? You just need TPMS sensors and FA code 1 feature. No additional systems or controllers.

I can confirm. My '14 vehicle didn't have TPMS. Figured I'd try it so fitted valves (from eBay), coded and now have fully working TPMS. Hope this reassures you

After several attempts, I finally managed to enable the TPMS on my 2015 X5 x35d. And yes, it's that simple, just
Add 2VB to FA first and then VO code BDC_Body,DSC2,HU_NBT,DKOMBI (The key is to choose the folder and code)

Thanks for sharing the useful tips.

Sorry to revive an old thread.

I went through all these steps to switch my 2015 X5 35d from FTM to TPMS but am not getting any readings. After a reset it stays at 0% until it gives a TPM fault. Once I got it to count up (very slowly) to 49% but it stopped there.

Could the issue be that I harvested the TPMS sensors from a set of winter wheels we were using on a G01 (2018 X3). Are these sensors not compatible with my 2015 X5? They both are 433 Mhz....

It does sound like bad or not compatible sensors. You can check part numbers on real oem to verify if sensors are the same.

Ordered a new set of OEM sensors from eBay for $138…. Shipping from Slovakia, so will take a couple of weeks to get here.. but the price was better than anything local.. will see if these sensors behave better. Unfortunately I likely need to make this FTM to TPMS switch to import my car into the US, which doesn’t seem to allow indirect TPMS anymore.

F and G series use different sensors.

I’m not sure if you asked this on another forum or post (only saying because I posted this same info below in that thread)…but I have a 2015 f06 650ix GC that was imported from Canada…and it still has the FTM (indirect system)…and has an approved import sticker. I also just purchased new tires when I swapped out my old winter tires (which have the sensors since they were used on my 2013 f06 650ix GC) and mounted the summer wheels that don’t have the sensors.

I informed the tire installer that the wheels didn’t require sensors….and they never batted an eye…installed new valve stems & mounted the new tires on the old wheels. Performed the simple iDrive reset…all 4 wheels showed green…all good/no problems.

Not saying you don’t need the TPM system…just putting it out there that it doesn’t appear to be an issue for import and probably the indirect (RPA/FTM) or direct (RDC/TPM) system will meet approval.

Following this thread. What is correct PN for ‘18 F16 (or freq is it 433mhz) since you say they use different tpms?
I want to switch from run flat to tpms and will be in US in two weeks to pick them up.
Thanks
