I just finished retrofitting 2VB (RDC) on my 2015 X5 35d (Canadian market model with ONLY FTM).
You are correct; simply install the 4 sensors in the wheels, add 2VB to your FA and then VO code the BDC, HU_NBT, DSC and Kombi and it works great!

No antenas or RDC module needed?
I was too lazy to deal with all that wiring, but if it's just wheel sensors - I will do it!

Yes! I'm not sure when exactly, but around 2014 they integrated the antenna into the DSC module as standard, eliminating the need for a separate RDC module. So even cars without 2VB will have the antenna ready.

All you need are 4 TPMS sensors for your wheels, part number 36 10 6 881 890. You can get them from a dealer or check amazon, ebay, etc.

Go check out my website or my vendor listing.
Don't go with OEM VDO, they have bad design on the Valve stem.
It will either leak or came loose easily.

Thumbs up TPMS fitted to 18 X5 (1)

Hi guys,
I'm Kareem from Egypt, had my '18 X5 i50 for a month now, my first BMW, so far everything is smooth, very nice ride, a bit firm on pot holes and we have alot of them here.
I decided to start coding since apparently it unlocks the secrets of German engineering ! I tried at first with Bimmercode android app since I'm clueless with regards to coding and it was very easy, just check the options you want and hit code. And if things go wrong there's a restore backup option.

Most of the options worked "rear DRL's, handle leds on with reverse, start in Eco Mode,....)

The thing with BMW cars purchased from Egypt, is that the are assembled in Egypt but all parts are imported from USA, even under the Assembly Country Vehicle Profile it says USA ! The fun part is that it comes with European specs, mirrors fold on close with fob, fog lights can be activated with HB, trunk can be opened and closed from inside or fob, fob has only 3 buttons, all factory, there's an entry under Vehicle Profile #[17]Type...[155]ECE " I'm assuming this's the EU spec option ?

TPMS fitted to 18 X5 (2)

So I decided I was ready to code after reading about it for sometime, but reading is never like practise. Anyway, I found that you can enable the display of Temp and Pressure under car settings, I coded that with Bimmerapp and I did get 4 green tires with dashes next to each one "no readings" !!
So after extensive research found that there are two types of systems, one that uses ABS sensors to measure rotational speed of tires and one that uses actual sensors inside the tires, how do I find which one I have, check the stems, rubber is the run flat warning using ABS, metal is the TPMS.
Found that I have the rubber one even though as I read on US production models it's standard from '14 as I read and this's a US production !
Any way so it's time for my first retrofit
Searched online for appropriate TPMS and found alot OEM and aftermarket, decided to go with VDO oem part#S180052056H or SE52056 from *********.

Eventhough I wasn't sure if the car has the required receivers or if it needed a module installation since on older cars they had to add it, but I read on an an f30 that HU_NBT units had the module already built in but still no way to be sure !

As soon as the sensors were delivered I added 2VB to FA, went to the tire shop, removed the rubber stems, fitted the sensors and drove of waiting for the numbers to pop up...nothing ! All I got was measuring tire pressure and no progress indicator or anything

Back to the posts, after extensive reading found that some additional coding is needed to activate the TPMS under 4 modules "Kombi,HU_NBT,Body and DSC"
At first I had VO coded 3 of them only so it was still not operational, once VO code all 4 ECU's reset the sensor from car screen and start driving ,it was ON

Thumbs up TPMS fitted to 18 X5 (3)

In a nutshell, to activate tire pressure and temperature in a car that doesn't have the sensors you would the following :
Hardware
1- Order TPMS sensors part#S180052056H or similar
Software
1-Add 2VB to FA
2-VO code BDC_Body,DSC2,HU_NBT,DKOMBI
Thanks for bms5 for the correct steps

All F15s are build in the USA even for the European market. Even the ones from Egypt factory - they receive the kits from the US factory and make final assembly.

Hello! Purchased the valves with pressure sensors, used Carly for BMW app, and nothing, only the dashes (-) on pressure and temp.
When you refer to the Bimmerapp, which app is that? Bimmercode??

I dont think Carly can do vo code. You might have to manually code them but it will be easy to just setup esys and vo code
