Any good sources to purchase a spare tire and wheel for my 2014 X5? A dealership is quoting around $650 for it.

Get the spare tire at fcp euro or tire rack, don't forget to get the rim as it's a separate item and purchase. Should be ~250 in total.

These pop-up for sale here time to time, as well as ebay.

Apple CarPlay Issues

CarPlay freezes/Doesn't turn on. Turning off the radio and turning it back on resets the CarPlay and it shows up on the screen again.

Hello Guys:

Newbie here, I had a license plate light go off on my 2015 X5
replaced the bad LED lamp but the car still shows
license plate lamp malfunction
the car had cut off power to the lamps now.

I scanned it with OBD II scanner and found a fault code dtc 80486

tried using ISTA+ to scan and found the same error, I don't know, how I can can clean or reset reset the short-circuit lock-out in the Body Domain Controller (BDC).

Thanks.

Did you change regular bulb for LED? If that's the case you have to code it in so computer won't throw the code

Hello there,
My X5 25dX N47S1 vehicle has a 246B00 fault record. Usually when it is cold, the accelerator suddenly stops and there is no pedal response so that the idle does not rise.
Does anyone have an idea? thanks in advance.

On my X5 50i I have 21" x 11.5" rear wheels and 21" x 10" front wheels with 325/30R21 and 285/35R21 tires respectively. I'm currently running Pirelli P Zero summer RFTs. Yesterday we had some light snow in the DC metro area and my X5's performance was awful compared to my previous X3 where I had all season RFTs (smaller wheels and all the same size).

Based on my online research, it appears my current setup just doesn't lend itself to performing well in the snow, but I'm curious if folks have found any good A/S RFTs in the sizes noted above. I need to be able to drive in the snow, and I don't want to switch to snow tires every year, so I'm considering swapping out the wheels to accommodate A/S RFTs, but I really love my staggered setup and would hate to lose it, so figured I'd check if anyone has solved the issue I have. Note that I'm willing to go down to a 20" staggered setup if folks have found A/S RFTs for that setup.

Appreciate any feedback!
Ah. Same boat as me. I got my X5 50i with the 21 inch rims because they looked great. After a near disaster last March on a ski-trip last year when it started to snow I just switched to 19 inch all seasons and could not be happier. Doesn't look as aggressive, but much more comfortable for DC roads and decent in the snow. Yeah, I had no problems in the snow in Dec. I don't think I'll go back to the larger rims. TBH, I haven't seen in difference in cornering or general performance since moving to the 19 inch other than greater comfort. It took me a few days to adjust to the look though.

Car is super reliable .. and doing well. Just passed 62K.. any recommendations of things to look for. So far all it has needed was oil changes, air filters, brakes and tires.

Hi Everyone

Newbie here. I have a 2015 X5 about 84k miles. No issues but I was wondering if anyone could share some thoughts on potential major issues with the car. I love the car and I am not really keen on selling it but toying with the idea of selling it off. Its 6 years old now.

6WB option - Digital Instrument cluster stopped working on me. First time i was in a cold climate around 0, -1 degrees Celsius cold started the car to move it closer (50 m) and shut it off again. Started it after 15-20 mins head up and instrument cluster didnt work I could only see the small section in the right section showing which gear im in. Nothing else worked.

Shut if off, waited 15 mins restarted and it started working again.

It has done it 1 more time with higher temps and not cold started . Was around 5-6 degrees celsius. Same solution as above.

Dealer said no codes were stored on that but quoted me initially around 2500 usd for a whole instrument cluster unit? not sure whats included in that tbh but reduced it to about 600-700 usd with some warranty claim.

Anyone else experienced this and if yes what was your solution.

Although ive mainly enjoyed the 6wb option if its prone to such failure its a let down. First time it happened was when i was 300miles away from home and the prospect of driving all that without knowing my speed was frustrating.

Pop the hood and check the voltage on the jumper posts. Id be curious to see what your resting voltage is.

Get / buy a battery tender/charger and turn your ignition into the ACC position and hook up to the terminals under the hood and let it charge up for 12 hours.

Then I'd go from there. I had my vehicle in for some other repairs and I brought my HUD going dark and not working when turning the car on and off quickly. Dealership said theyd have to replace the whole 6WB to fix it. I've been keeping my 6 year old batteries charged up by hooking up the tender once a month and have not had any issues since.

Will try and report back. I do literally daily drive this car however and when taken on long trips ( multiple in 2021 alone) its been whole day driving sessions.

Battery hasnt been replaced as far as i know and its an 2015 car so still possible.

No low battery warning however.

Picked up a 2016 X5 Sdrive MSport couple weeks ago. First issue: Sunroof leaking on passenger side after all the rain today.

I plan on running fishing line down the drain holes like I did with the old E70.

Of course, the first thing I did to her (her new name is Gretchen) was to shed the chrome grill and replace with a black split-slat one.
