Ive just finished the install, I triple checked every connection and took my time - didn't even take 90 mins. Easier than it looks online!

BUT there is a problem. The following 3 screens are what I see.

1: before I plug in my phone.
2: once my phone is plugged in (loads for about 5 seconds)
3: blank screen.

I've reached out to UNICHIP, hope to get some help. Will suck to pull everything back apart...


EDIT: As I expected it was the cable. Cheap amazon basics cable did not work, went to original white iPhone cable and it works perfectly. So far.

OK so I'm fully up and running. Still need to do a proper drive and see how it all works out, but initial thoughts:

-I REALLY squeezed it behind the OEM headunit. I just pushed as hard as possible and screwed down the main headunit.. Hopefully that all works out with both devices jammed up (plus all cables) in such a small space.

-The aftermarket microphone is a bummer. I have it sticking out of the headliner on the passenger side of the eyeglass holder... It's not a perfect solution (both in looks & distance to my mouth). What did you guys all do?

-There seem to be random static lines about 1-3" long, lasting about 1-3 frames per second every now and then. Could be interference between cables too close to each other, or a cable not 100% secure.


All in all very excited to have this installed and running. As Apple updates CarPlay, our cars will be updated as well! Very cool.

with carplay, you either love it or hate it. i love it, as i've already had it in 3 of my cars including the x5m. it's even better wireless. enjoy yours

Getting lot's of PM's. Guys, if your interested in an apple car play solution please make sure the following:

1. Your car has ID 5 or 6. Usually found in newer F15/F16's 2017+
2. Please make sure you have a laptop with an ethernet port + enet cable

No, but very reasonably priced. I just enabled DVD in motion also.

I installed the microphone right behind the rearview mirror on the left side of a plastic piece, it's almost invisible and Siri understands pretty easy my words, no need to speak loud, I'm very happy with that location

I just had mine done by a guy. Very reasonable price. Love having spotify and waze on the HUD!

I like the CarPlay we have in our G01, would like to add it to my 2015 F15 with iD4, but at full price it's a bit silly...

No. But you can always start one. not worth it in my opinion with what you lose function off. Best experience is using android display. Similar price and you don't lose any functionality of iDrive. Only downside is it's not wireless.

Search a bit. There's another thread covering aftermarket CarPlay including reviews and a group buy that I did for unichip.

What do you lose? I thought it just allows you to switch between idrive and CarPlay by pressing the 8 preset button?

While in CarPlay...You lose the use of your camera button if you have 360 camera. The camera also doesn't auto switch to 360 when PDC is activated. It also doesn't remain in reverse or 360 camera for a few seconds when utilizing the back up camera as oem does.

I had issues with listening to radio while having car play open. Audio was fine but i couldn't switch between radio stations via the hud as usual.

I've put the .bin fil in usb ( Fat32), reboot manually the nbt evolution after 30 seconds but nothing happened after... ( The HU doesn't restart automatically)

My I-step (current) is : 18-11-551.

Any ideas to why my HU doesn't reboot automatically ?

I've the program to generate the fake fsc fullset. Normally, it's ok for 18-11.

Anybody haved this problem ans solve it ?
