time for new battery?
My F15 x5 has shown random error on cold starts such as chassis management and adblue error on days when temp has been < 0 degrees Celsius and this clears up when I stop and restart the car
I scanned with bimmerlink no permanent errors shows. and 105 AGM Battery charge is 48% this seems constant each time I checked it with bimmerlink. Also 5 years and 60k miles since last battery was changed. Should I a. Replace Battery b. Try trickle charger c. do nothing and wait for winter to pass If a. Go OEM or try bosch/exide |

Depends on how often your drive, but after 5 years in cold conditions it might be a good time to get a new battery so you are not stranded one day. OEM vs aftermarket part in my opinion is whatever is cheaper, as far as specs are the same.

Id hook it up to a good battery charger and let it run its conditioning program and see what happens from there. AGM's are finicky and like alot of voltage to be happy.
Worth a shot and by far the cheaper option before replacing batteries. If it does not work, and you still have the replace them (one or both) then you'll have a tender to keep up the charging on your batteries going foward. |

If you use a lot of the electronics/accessories, after 5 years/60K it might very well be time to change. Sure, you could probably squeeze out a bit more use, but a new battery is inevitable, and preventative maintenance now might save you headache down the road.

ok so it was -7 c. The car said go for a long drive or connect external leads. I took her out for a 30 minute spin. warning went away but I thought I can't be bothered with the faff of no start/ slow charging etc so called bmw they quoted £500 fit of battery and would need to take the car and leave it at the dealership for 24 hours.
Tried RAC. Got a varta 105 agm battery for £290 suppy fit n coded and registered at home in 24hours. Mrs says the turbo lag is gone and car runs faster and smoother too: |
