Installing X6M front bumper to X6 M sport
hey guys,
i was searching around the forum and its been hard for me to find specific information about this install so i thought i share my experience with you all in case you find it usefull. I have a 2016 X6 3.0d M sport. I know that in the states diesel engines are not that common so please have that in mind reading further. I hope the parts listed matchup. I ordered a used X6M f86 bumper i found online here in Europe. After it has been painted and all parts assembled onto it, heres how it looked: Here are the parts that you need to order for this conversion: X6m front bumper X6m sprinkle covers: 51118066729, 51118066730 X6m bottom grills left and right: 51118056261, 51118056262 x6m center grills: 51118056259, 51118056341 (this is with camera holder), small part for camera holder: 51118056342 x6m bottom connecting parts: 51718056383, 51718056384 x6m connecting parts with the bumper: 51118056709, 51118056710 Modifications needed: this small part of the air intake needs to be cut https://ibb.co/rkn4dKq heres how it looks without it https://ibb.co/Z2jKkLV i have the pedestrian warning option and this foamy part houses the optical line and cables for that option. that foam needs to be cut on both sides too https://ibb.co/3djRRTJ, but just this much: https://ibb.co/NLcW4ZF next issue is the same with that pedestrian warning option. the cable connector at the end on each side colides with the new place of the parking sensor on the bumper https://ibb.co/G5VSnsS, my solution was to replace the parking sensors so that the ones from the middle go on the sides and the ones from the sides go in the middle. The ones in the middle are flat and the ones on the sides look like this https://ibb.co/BVy33LS and because of this shape they are hitting the cable connector for the pedestrian warning on the front of the car. see here: https://ibb.co/G5VSnsS next up is the bottom of the bumper where the holes do not meet. i just placed a piece of plastic at the bottom and screwed it at both ends. https://ibb.co/QKtWHH6 next thing is optional. when i placed the bumper on the car i could see my wheels from the front on both sides. X6M has small radiators at both sides there so the wheels are not visible. i've cut out plastic parts and screwed them on from the inside of the bumper to cover the holes. https://ibb.co/qBYbq6D, and at the end heres how it looks: https://ibb.co/PGZYXKz and here is the finished product: total cost: $250 for the bumper $400 for the parts $200 for paint $100 for fitting and plastic work Last edited by nenadbogar; 01-24-2021 at 11:55 AM..
