Monaco
When was the track built?

In 1215, sort of – that’s when Monaco was first established as a colony of Genoa.
When was its first Grand Prix?

It was 1929 when racing engines first reverberated around the Principality, after cigarette manufacturer Antony Noghes decided to organise a race with his pals from the Automobile Club de Monaco. The race was part of the calendar in the first year of the Formula 1 World Championship in 1950, and hasn’t been off it since 1955.
What’s the circuit like?

Incredibly narrow and totally iconic. Nelson Piquet memorably described driving around Monaco as “like riding a bicycle around your living room”… which is fair. Despite that, it’s a challenge that nearly all drivers love, forcing them to put their skills on the line and rewarding millimetric accuracy. Overtaking on the tight streets is harder, however, with the 2003 Grand Prix witnessing a grand total of zero passing moves!
Why go?

A holiday on the French Riviera, plus the chance to watch Formula 1 cars pounding past places where Monegasques usually go to buy a pint of milk? It really is as fun as it sounds. On top of that, the chance to walk the track after a day’s hard lapping – or even enjoy your dinner on it at one of the terrasse bars – is not to be missed.
Where is the best place to watch?

Assuming you can’t get into one of the overhanging apartment blocks around the circuit (or onto a boat) shoot for anything from Grandstands L to P, which are clustered around the Swimming Pool section of the track, and where drivers hurl their cars through the tight chicane at 200km/h. Or, for a more spectacular vista, try Grandstand B, overlooking the ritzy Casino Square.

So what are your predictions?
My prediction is that Max will be in trouble. The last 2 grand prix have shown that it's difficult to get the RB in the optimal operating window for the tyres. Both in qualifying and in the race. I think Max won't get pole position, and consequently won't win the race. But of course I might be wrong
My prediction:

1. NOR
2. LEC
3. VER
4. PIA
5. HAM
6. SAI
7. RUS
8. TSU
9. PER
10. ALO

Chas's reputation is on the line not to make a DNF overcooking it to finally get a good result at his born home town and he should go better on softs with those upgrades, but hope they're not #ferrarithings upgrades

The red shirts gave him a down thumb (like the Romans did most of the time to slaves at the Colosseum in ancient times) and he gave them a sort of thumbs up, a true champion of the Lions to eat the Roman gladiators and to save the slaves

Max's quali pace has been record breaking this year - I don't see anyone winning this besides Max even if McLaren and Ferrari can gather more pace.

When the chips look to be a little down for MAX he more often than not always has an answer to address it but just enough to what's needed in the defence.

Looking forward to a fun race! Monaco at 9am ET then the junior league Indy 500 at 11am ET.

One quick question..it's off topic from this race but, why isn't there a German GP anymore? The wife and I are looking to head to Europe late next year (Septemberish) and we have friends going to Germany and were going to plan our trip around their trip for a few weeks and go to the German GP. I looked at next years F1 calendar and it's not on there again..(not on 2024 either).

Just curious..

We might go to the Monza, Italy race instead. (Sept 5-7, 2025)

Apparently lack of interest from them, semi retired? Vettel doesn't help much with his net zero for F1 outlook and when Schumacher left interest just declined steadily as there was no one for the Germans to cheer for and the only one left is Hulkenberg who's not a front runner.

M5Rick Thanks for that!

Makes sense! We will keep looking at other tracks / places to visit while looking and making plans. But right now, it's Monza on our list.

I enjoy the sport for what it is, less concerned about the nationality of the drivers or teams other than being excited for them at their home race... otherwise all of us americans would be stuck cheering for sargent and haas.

With Merc in the mix, it's kind of surprising... maybe it'll be a boost with Audi joining?

I think Vettel is too busy blowing all the politicians who have their hands in the EV industry and actually believing everything. There's nothing wrong with caring about the environment but he went full on globohomo hippie.
