Wheel size question

Hello,

I am a new owner a 2015 S Drive 3.5i , the car came with 18" wheels - 255/55/18. The dealer informed me to "be very careful" if i want to change my wheel size to 19" or 20". They claim the the circumference of the wheel can affect the speedometer, traction control etc.

What size of wheel/tire can i upgrade? i saw that the 20417 X5 come with 255/50/19.

Thanks for your help.

Isaac

you can run any of the 18 19 or 20 inch oem tire sizes. the dealer probably meant to not go oversize.
255/55/18 is the same diameter as 255/50/19

for 19" wheels, 255/50/19 is the oem size.
for 20" wheels(staggered) 275/40/20 and 315/35/20 is oem

another thing is to pay attention to wheel widths and offsets, but if you're using oem x5 wheels, then it shouldnt be an issue.
you can take 19 or 20 wheels from another x5 and put on yours. thats the easiest option. find a used set.

Thank you turboawd, this is very helpful.

Do i have to go staggered on 20" wheels or can i go 4 275/40/20 wheels?

I will definitely look for used X5 wheels.

If you stick with OEM wheels, you can get 19s, 20s or 21s.
