I agree, pulling the fuse seems a lot safer but for myself I just did it via coding because I didn't feel like pulling or removing a thing lol.

I get coding for sure. What I don't get is unplugging the ASD. It's a PITA to get to and leaves a dangling powered cord with 15AMPS at the end of it.

I used Carly on my F80 and just used it this past weekend on the new (to me) F85.

It's worth the price just for turning off ASD from your phone.

I agree, and there's so many options other than simply turning it on and off.

For ASD, they can't code it off most likely for liability or warranty issues, or some baloney like that. So you've got to go to other shops, or DIY. Good news is it's inexpensive and easy for shops to do and many have had success DIY. HTH
my dealer here in MA quoted me $150 to disable the ASD, which I declined.

Do you just buy the module form amazon? Could someone provide the link to buy the exact one I need for a 2017 F85? Anything else required to get it working? Thanks everyone!

Just pull the fuse. Did it on mine. Perfectly safe and takes only a few minutes. Fully reversible (ie insert the fuse back in) if you're concerned about it when going for service at your dealer.

In the picture you may see frequency spectrums superimposed with and without ASD at the same speed and throttle opening for my F85, with an otherwise silent B/O music system.

The dark green bar additions reprent the extra sound created by the ASD inside the car near the driver's ear.

The difference is quite substantial in acoustic terms.

The difference between ASD enabled and disabled is night and day with B&O. ASD is ridiculous and is the audio equivalent of a recording of woman moaning playing while you actually have relations with a woman. All it is doing is ruining the experience of what you are doing and not enhancing anything. Disable it and enjoy the ride.

Pulled the fuse yesterday, I really have no idea why I waited so long. The vehicle is quieter inside and the HK is louder and crispier a much better sound.
For those that are thinking about pulling the fuse, when you open up the hatch for the fuses in the back passenger side you will see a piece of paper right next to the fuse box. Line up the drawing correctly and pull fuse #129. It's a blue 15 amp fuse. Good luck

Oh man, I tried getting my hand back there to unplug it and definitely was a no go! I never thought I had fat hands! Guess I'll try the fuse next!

I got the Carly adapter eons ago, so I'm grandfathered in for lifetime. I would imagine I can disable ASD for anyone in the NY/NJ area (I'm in Monroe, NJ).

Pulling the fuse took less than 5 mins and is super easy rather than pulling the plug out. Car is now quieter in Comfort mode, but louder and more real sounding in Sport/Sport+.

I also opted in pulling the fuse out rather than trying to reach behind the amp and unplugging the module. Just make sure you use the little booklet and orient it properly to identify fuse #129 (blue 15 amp).

Before doing the ASD delete, are you guys hearing exhaust notes coming from the speakers ? Does this occur even worth the stereo off ? I'm debating if I should try this but .. I don't hear any fake exhaust notes coming from my speakers 🙉

Hey Fern,

Now that I have the ASD off, I can truly say that there was exhaust notes coming from the speakers, it was very faint but noticeable even with the stereo off. I found the sound that was coming from the speakers to be annoying, since it was a consistent hum or buzzing, now the cabin is perfectly quite at idle and at WOT is just pure exhaust note.

I say try and if you miss the artificial sound then just plug that fuse back in, no harm at all

I tried it. Pulled the fuse. Only took a second. I never noticed the fake noise. The engine still sounds the same with the stereo off. The B&O sounds a lot better now though. The bass in the mids is much improved.

Fuse pulled, now enjoy quieter ride and the real sound from my Dinan exhaust

Thanks to everyone's information.

I first tried to unplug the wire, but failed. Then easily pulled the #129 fuse. I noticed the HK sounds a lot better and the ride became quiet. After pressed the M1 or M2 button, I get to enjoy the real sound from my DINAN free flow exhaust.

Now I need to find a way to remove the rear mirror cover and mirror tap the escort 360c and mount it by Blendmount.

Or code it?? I wouldn't want a random power cable just dangling behind some panel somewhere in my ride either.
