They didn't do mine as a kit. They only changed the driver side first. I had to complain again and take it back for the passenger side

But that's not the best part.

I'm about 700 miles away from being out of warranty. I inquired about extended the factory warranty, and was getting a quote for 72 months, 75K miles Platinum for $5,799. Almost fell of my chair.

And if that wasn't amazing enough, my service adviser told me the wishbones wouldn't even have been covered by ANY warranty outside of the factory one.

Just think about it. You just dropped close to $6K on extending a warranty, and the wishbones go out and you get hit with another $1,500. I would have punched myself in the neck.

Seriously considering getting something else.
Am considering getting something else as well, but am a little on the negative side if i trade

Odd. I asked my SA that question specifically based on what you went through and he told me they come as a kit, so both are done.

Glad you got it all worked out. I just picked mine up this morning. I only plan on keeping this car for a year, 2 years max. Hope nothing else gives me any problems

I was just reading the CPO warranty on what it covers and what it does not. There are a lot of things not covered that you'd assume would be.

Honestly, CPO used to be worth something back in the days. They have taken a tremendous amount of value out of it, and replaced it with restrictions. Then take a look at what the extended warranties cost, and it's obvious BMW is only interested in punters leasing new BMWs every three or four years. Unfortunately, that's a model that I'm not interested in.

BMW realized that leasing the cars brings in more money than selling them outright. Because of these outrageous warranty prices, CPO is not looking that great. I'm a bit concerned because I only have 2 years of warranty left although I have very low miles on a 2015 CPO. Currently around 10,400 miles.

I wonder why BMW states these cars are so reliable and then pushes the prices of warranty so out of reach. This is my 5th BMW and all were purchased. Had some bad experiences with Brand new ones wether off the lot or ordered. I love BMW but this brands reliability sometimes scares me.

I would if I wasn't so negative in equity. That's why I said I would be keeping this for 1-2 years max. If I knew cpo was this much of a joke I would have bought something else or new.

Hey J7NKMAIL,

Sorry to be a pain. They covered this under your CPO warranty, or were you still under your original factory warranty?

Trade in Ford to save money and get a used BMW X5......you sir are a brave man.
When I bought my 2014 X5 CPO I knew that if something happens after warranty - a crated N63TU with labor would run me north of $20k if I'm lucky with a dealer paying the rest.

What exactly is the point of a SIB if they don't cover the problem outside of warranty? I guess I don't know exactly what a sib is. I assumed it was a known part failure that should be replaced which to me sounds like almost a recall accept it's not a safety issue.

A "SIB" is a Service Information Bulletin.

Right but what's the point. Just to say "hey if a bunch of customers come in complaining of this noise then this is the problem" not hey this part is failing at 30k miles and it shouldn't be so cover this manufacturer default with this new product that will actually last! Haha Jesus.

So I started getting the creaking noise from the lower control arm also. Factory warranty ran out in April. What are the odds? This won't be covered under CPO warranty bc it's considered a wear and tear item (rubber bushings). Dealer dropped their price of $1500 to $1000 for the job. Currently waiting to see if they'll work something out with me.

My SA said there's no TSBs or anything for this issue.

Gotta love it. The part is $250 so I'm just gonna do it myself. It's like one bolt and two nuts. Should be easy enough

So they want $1k to do both left and right control arms. I'll probably just do it myself. They said no alignment is necessary for this job. Does that seem correct?

Hm my car got an alignment twice from doing them. They first did the driver side and did an alignment. I then complained again because the sound was still there so they changed the passenger side and had to do another alignment. I would honestly do them myself too if the dealer doesn't do it under warranty. You can get non oem ones for $70-150. You should be okay without an alignment I would think
