If a new RS6 Avant came to the US, would you switch?
Audi's Hot New RS6 Sport Wagon Could Be Coming to the U.S. https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a2...on-u-s-future/
I would give it SERIOUS thought. I looked at wagons before I got my X5M. I don't off-road my M and a 650HP RS6 wagon would be VERY tempting.

I'd be tempted, too.
I have fond memories of my 1st gen RS6 ('04). It was an absolute beast in all seasons, and had serious sleeper appeal. That being said, I have to say that the elevated seating position of an SUV is really nice while commuting, and I imagine that handling in the latest gen RS6 would be similar to that of my old one. That is to say, one handling option only: terminal understeer. Can't say that is a problem that afflicts the X5M... |

How about S6 Avant with diesel power?
https://jalopnik.com/2019-audi-s6-av...b-f-1833978636 Either way, I'm checking them out when they get here. But I suspect my next car will be RS Q8. |

In America, the S6 will be getting the gas 2.9TT from the RS5. I'd strongly consider an RS6 avant, but I really don't like the new Audi interiors.
If anything I'd switch to an F85 or wait for Panamera Turbo S wagons to depreciate further

Now if BMW did a new M5 touring, I'd be even more serious about switching.

Audi always sounds good until I look at the interior. Does not seem as nice as the x5m. Mercedes seems like the step up there.
BMW also seems to win the infotainment system war at the moment. I have yet to use another that doesn’t seem woefully outdated compared to BMW’s. |

Without question!! Been anxiously awaiting to hear if this, or even an RS4 Avant, makes it to our shores. I love fast wagons.

Possibly. I had a S6 Avant, which was a sleeper car for sure. That generation A6 had issues with wheel balancing, being nose heavy and a too even AWD system. However the new generation Quattro systems are supposedly more rear biased. Plan to check it out if it comes to the US, especially if the BMW grills continue to grow ala X5, X7 and 7 series.

Almost assuredly will be purchasing the RS6.
However..... If the next X5M has a Competition Package that is price comparable to the RS6 Avant, that will make the decision tougher

I guess. Although if all the info I needed was right there in front of me I may be ok with it. Don't know. Never drove one.

Westfalia has made them for previous A6 Avant. I am sure they will do so for the C8.
There are options for the S211/S212 E Wagons as well:

I have owned a few different E63 wagons and while I have never installed a hitch I have seen a few of them on other vehicles:
replaces bumper support and install is fairly easy:

nope
if I wanted a wagon, I would spec out an E63S wagon If I wanted a lower stance, would buy the M5 I've had and "S" Audi, and the bite never matched the bark. I realize the RS is a different segment, but an Audi is still an Audi. Anyway, the reality is, at this level, really no "losers" to be had Enjoy the ride! |

^^ A reasonable analogy is S = M Sport, and RS = M. So yes, completely different performance league.
RS Audis have always excelled at straight line speed and mechanical grip, but they have historically been lacking compared to M BMWs in handling finesse. I would say that the gap has narrowed, from improvements by Audi, but also because M cars have all become way too heavy and luxury oriented. |

I've been driving BMW's for 26 years now (wow I'm getting old) I will take a good long look at the RS6 to change things up. That interior better be up to date.
