H&R VTF issue

Hey guys I had H&R VTf's installed about a month ago or so but I rarely drive my F85. After it was installed on full lock I heard a single bang which occurred a few times. Spoke to my installer and they said that what they see is that the spring is turning on itself when on full lock. Didn't hear the sound since then.

Yesterday, I took the car to the dealership to replace the brake sensor since it fried and when leaving I began to hear the. Lose again. Dealer took a look at it and said the same thing. They said it shouldn't be a problem as long as I can live with the sound, but I don't think I can live with my suspension making noises. It sounds like the spring is going to pop! Anyone else have this issue?

I had a customer who had that issue.

I sent H&R the video of the spring binding, and they couldn't figure out why.

I told them that my suspicion was that they change the spring spacer between main spring and helper spring to plastic instead of solid fiber glass piece.
The plastic spacer doesn't slide as easy as the fiber glass piece when the spring twist during a full turn.

But, they don't buy it.
Customer swap to Eibach at the end and I sent the VTF back to H&R.

So, there is solution pretty much.

It start happening on the later batch when H&R changed the spring spacer material.

Bin, would it be possible to order from other manufacturer the spring spacer in the right material to eliminate the noise. I know it may be tough to find the right size but may be a great option for people that still want to run the VTFs.

Possible.

Just need to do some research.
Been trying to do that, but you know me. Lots of things on my plate.
Others just milking from my information and not even helping out. Haha.

Hmmm.. does this only happen to some? Because the set installed on my brothers F85 doesn't do it and his is actually set lower than mine. I hate hearing this sound!

So maybe the set I have is defective? Would H&R replace them?

You can try to call them.

It is very complicated process.

I had a similar issue with them. Mine had a thump noise every now and then when I would be in motion and turning the wheel. Turns out they weren't installed properly. Had another shop take a look and they fixed it. The inside cup was loose one one side and was just spinning by itself, not sure if that was the exact issue but it stopped making the noise. Could be a combination of that and the spring settling. Now I'm dealing with another issue lol, the right side of my car is about a quarter in lower than the left. I'm most likely switching to the Eibachs.
