I've had my car for 20 hours, no problems so far. Am I just lucky? lol...

all joking aside, just got my car. Hoping I don't have to visit this thread anytime soon!

2018 X5. On driver 1 profile, the preset radio stations randomly all change to "153" every couple of weeks. On driver 2 profile, the heads up display will randomly revert back to it's default position.

I am so sorry this happened to you. I don't have an answer for you, other than to keep trying to go up the chain to try and get it covered. I'd argue that since they first felt they needed to run the test before the warranty was out that you technically reported the issue while under warranty and therefore it's their responsibility to fix it.

HUD seems to do that from time to time. Have you tried repositioning it and reserving your seat position memory? That fixes it (for a while) it seems.

After restarting the car it all came back after about a mile of driving. I have been at the dealer for the same issue about 5 months ago and all they did was to reset the computer. It lasted half a year I guess, but now I've had that warning three times in a day.

2015 BMW X5 xDrive35d with 49800 miles.
Any luck at the dealer getting this resolved? Sounds almost like a low battery voltage problem since so many ECUs are affected...

They replaced the battery. Drivetrain malfunction error is due to faulty wheel speed sensor. Airbag fault is due to faulty sensor in the driver seat mat. They are waiting on a part to arrive from Germany...

Has anyone experienced an issue with rattling noise from the rear/trunk area (inside the car, not shocks/struts). It's noticeable when driving over bumps.

Had this issue after I picked my car up. Dealer had to readjust/align the tailgate. The charge was 1 hour of labor. Noise hasn't been back since.

My luggage cover makes a rattling sound, but only when it’s warm out. could it be that?

That's my suspicion. The sound tends to gradually go away (but not completely) as the car warms up inside. Did you do anything to fix it?

I leave it in the garage until I need it.

Hey i had this noise from the trunk area on my 2018 x5 as well. I bought it in and was told that something is loose within the tail gate. Dealership had it fixed for free.

In February, I purchased an executive demo. The vehicle was a 2018 X5 35i with about 5000 miles on it. The dealer was out of state and I needed to obtain a PA State Inspection. Upon inspection my local mechanic noticed an oil leak coming from the oil pan gasket. The dealer I purchased from did completed an oil change prior to me taking delivery. I currently have the vehicle at my local BMW service center. According to the local dealer they had said the bolts were simply not tightened. Furthermore, they stated if the oil leaked again to return to the service center and they would order a new gasket and replace. This was not necessarily the first post I wanted to put on here but I wanted to obtain feedback or suggestions for moving forward.

Thank you in advance.

Yep, same thing. Mine crackled on start up, they replaced the evap, was leaking, year later, leaking again.

The tally at 56k miles on a 2014 X5 50i

- Idrive controller fixed twice before removing the dust ring from inside
- Front Seatbelt replaced as it frayed on the edges
- Driver side carpeting would stick out under the left edge (seems it was cut too short, fixed it myself)
- All floot mats replaced as the velcros failed
- Evaporator leak and replaced around 40k miles, which resulted in several other fixes down the road with the dash and trim. think it is leaking again..
- Both front control arms replaced, around 45k miles
- Driver side door seal replaced, also something was adjusted with the mirror (was causing excessive wind noise)
- Crankcase ventilation hoses replaced, lovely whistle
- Ignition coil replaced, caused misfires
- Fuel Pump and Intake hoses replaced at 56k
- Full Steering rack replaced and steering reprogrammed at 56k as it was sticking and not centering

Also continue to have constant minor vibration, tried different tires, wheels, road force etc and can't seem to get rid of it.

Wow. I feel for u anon. Having some issues with my E70. Just got a F15 a couple months back with 70k. Only thing I noticed was rough idle on occasion and the bottom driver seat is starting to crack on the side.

Luckily warranty and CPO has covered most, I still like that car, very quiet, comfortable and the torque is intoxicating. 2014 was the first model year, so I am sure 2015 and on are better.

I'd check the intake hoses and fuel pump if your idle wonders too much.

2015 MSport 50i with about 48k(purchased with 36K)on the odo and 1 year of ownership.

-Several Gaskets/Seals replaced for oil leaks. I have one of the more oil thirsty 50i's since I was averaging 1500 miles before 2 qt oil top off warning. Went 5k before first warning. I also have a lot of stop and go to and from work. I've accepted this but hope it improves since there were no new leaks found in my last inspection. Will also change oil every 5k now.

The following I had done under warranty and final inspection before original warranty expired. FYI for those with Original warranty nearing expiration: Take everything you see on the forums and make that final appointment. Depending on your relationship with your SA you can bypass paying for Pre-Sale inspection and just have a laundry list of concerns since under warranty which is what I did. Even if nothing wrong, they are inspecting in the general area of concern especially when in the engine bay, under carriage or suspension areas that we might not be able to see and know if something is starting to wear down and needing replacement.

-Front Control Arms replaced under warranty when took in for final inspection before original warranty expired.

-Steering column replaced. This I didn't even know since set to memory and test all ranges of motion and got the grinding sound others reported.

-Rubber door trim

-Brake Pads and Rotors (I have extended maint also so saved me a deductible)

-Passenger headrest motor. Would always return to the forward most position after releasing the button. This has been since day one of me owning but did not know until I sat in the passenger seat. That explains why the wifey was alway uncomfortable.

-Ceramic iDrive knob

-One Coil due to misfire (not sure why they wouldn't replace all coils)

So nothing really major and more routine maintenance for the most part.

Yes. Drove me mad. Finally fixed it by putting some ducktape on the metal bit that sticks out of the boot (trunk) tailgate. It's the bit that's on both sides of the boot.

Hi everyone,

I've had a brief scan of this topic but can't find what I'm looking for so if someone recognises my problem then I'd appreciate some advice regarding my 2018 F15 40d. Car was new when I bought it and has since done 15k miles.

First problem is that when travelling over a speed bump with the brake depressed (to reduce speed, not stop) there's a squeaking/groaning sound that sounds like a rear axel problem. This doesn't happen when not braking.

Second issue is that the brakes seem terrible compared to any other car I've owned. Spongy and not reactive unless you stamp on them. Trying to coast up behind a car at traffic lights and then progressively braking puts the fear of god into me! I try not to brake hard because I have a dog in the car 99% of the time. Is this normal because it's a heavy car or do they need bleeding?

It's due for a service shortly but would prefer to sound knowledgeable when talking to them that just mentioning "a squeaking" and sounding like a lemon
