Garage door meets hatch

Someone in the household left the hatch open and when the garage was lowered it dragged some of the paint off the lower edge of the hatch. It's not visible when the hatch is closed but I'm afraid it will rust over time if left untreated. Any suggestions about how to fix this properly?

Wife has done the opposite, open the hatch before the garage door fully opened. I used touch up paint, but I will get the hatch pained because everytime I wash her car, it bothers my OCD

If you search Ebay or Amazon dot com using your actual BMW paint code number...you can probably find a small can of spray paint that will match your existing paint exactly. You can then tape off the scraped area and then lightly spray new coats of paint to cover the mishap.

I had a small section on the front bumper of my f15 X5 (A52 space gray)...and it came out great and matched perfectly. I believe it cost like between $25-$35 for the 12 oz spray can. But there are also brush touch ups, too...which may work in your case if its not that visible most of the time.

If you don't know your exterior paint color code...look at the VIN label on your drivers' door/door jamb. You should see the paint code (usually) on the lower right side of the VIN label.

The pic below shows an example of my f06 650iX VIN label with the exterior color code highlighted (Black Sapphire Metallic):
