B-Pillar HVAC Vents?

Do 50i's come with B-pillar HVAC vents? Or is this an option that is included with 4-zone HVAC on all models? I saw them on an Euro-spec X5. Wondering if NA models get them too.

If it is like the E70, you need the 4 climate zone option. The B-Pillar vent is a HVAC vent which is located on the B-pillar about shoulder height of the seat and points to the second row.

If I knew this was part of 4 zone climate control option, I would've gotten it.

LOL!!!!! Here we go again. If I knew it.....

I am feeling it was a mistake to get a new car so early. If I knew I would get a crappy instrument cluster for not ordering HUD....., If I knew it I would not get B-Pillar HVAC vents if I did not order 4 zone climate control....

It is amazing that none of this is shown on BMW website and the CA has no clue. My previous X5 had this vents but I thought it was standard. It did not come in my new one so I thought it was just a new design on the new model. How in the hell I am supposed to know it only comes if you order 4 zone climate control?

BMWMN1971 having had this feature in your previous X5, do you think it's a feature you will miss on the new one? How useful is it?

Not sure how big difference it makes but certainly it was a nice feature. The reason I did not get 4 zone climate control on the new one is that the kids would kick the controls and the temperature on the second row would get messy. However, it was nice to have those vents blowing warm or cold air since it helped to get an even temperature in the entire car. Now all we have are the center vents.

Sales overrides Communication.

BMW accountable to shareholders and need to book the sales asap before potential customers who cannot wait choose the other brand. Similarily customers want the car asap.

Some of finer details have lacked proper communication. This is where BMW can improve its position as the worlds 11th most valuable trademark.

Heard this today, patience is a virtue. Perhaps non-first year is the best choice, less bugs, better built, and fuller communication. But then why wait to open the Christmas present on the 25th when you can do so on the 24th. Obviously earlier enjoyment!

In my case I had no choice. My previous lease was up so it was either get he new X5 delivered in early November or get another brand. In my mind I had the best scenario: a brand new model of the X5 riht out of the oven. I would not expect a very poor job from them in not informing customers what you get with each package. It should be very simple, just post a detailed description of wha each option/package means to your car so I could make my personal decision if an extended instrument cluster was worth getting the HUD or if the B-Pillar vents were worth getting the 4 zone climate control. However, BMW decided to hide all those details and makemthe decision for us. I feel that getting the new X5 is like getting a Kinder Surprise chocolate (Europeans know what I am talking about here) which is a little chocolate egg with a little surprise toy inside. You know you are getting a chocolate but you have no clue what is inside until you open it.

2014 BMW X5 = Kinder Surprise

I am sure the whole family will have the kindest surprises for Christmas.

I hear you, and it is frustrating that when you make a big purchase on a premium car to not get what you could have gotten. It is more understandable when some options are country specific.

The BMW Canada website populated with F15 was only up and running say a month ago, looks like they lifted a lot of info from the German webpage, hence for Canada it shows Traffic Jam Assistant as an option. News to me.

Its here, its new, let it rip. What can you/we do, but enjoy?

My current E70 has HVAC in B-Pillar with 4-Zone Climate…Yes, 4-Zone is required. I Recommend 4-Zone climate to anyone. It cools, heats, and circulates cabin air excellent.

Personally that B-pillar vent can be annoying. I cannot tell you the number of times the kids hit the rear climate fan controls and it ends up on High. You end up thinking you have a window down until you realize you need to reset the rear climate setting to "User Drivers settings"

I find it amusing how many people love their new cars until they learn that there is another tiny option out there and it is BMW's fault. If your spending time on the forums now, you think you may have researched the car more.

Not necessarily. You can actually extend your lease up to 6 months with BMWUSA if the purpose is to wait for a new car. I actually extended mine to wait for the diesel but my CA said they never cancelled my gas 35i build so I jumped on it. Oh, you can end the extension early too as long as it's for a new BMW.
