They haven't. My mom's new 4 series has the same cluster. The analog backlighting does not illuminate during the day.

Nope, still dim. In the beginning I didn't quite understand why people decided they want to drive around with their low beams on in daylight, but after noticing this I understood.

Problem solved??? If you drive with the headlights always on, it leaves the dash illuminated. Will the headlights go off after some time, not draining the battery? I found a video on line that says if you leave the headlights in the on position (furthest around to the right on the dial) the auto leveling and cornering lights don't work.

Any experts out there know?

^ correct, the "on" position just turns on the headlights but will not move when u turn the steering wheel, it needs to be at the "auto" position for the leveling and turning feature to work

Wow, something is wrong. Mine, even with headlamps set to 0, my instruments are bright and white/electroluminescent during the day!

I have the US standard cluster and there is no option to upgrade unless you add additional packages. Something you would think is simple to fix/include - not so much from BMWUSA unless they finally fixed in the 2017 models and on.

Do you have HUD? That one lights up.

I do have Heads Up Display. But that is on top of the dashboard. This affects the instruments?? I cannot imagine in 2017, BMW would make dashboard instruments that are black during the day! :-O
