Finally, New tires/tyres
After 68000 miles I replaced my OEM 19" Goodyear Eagle RFT's, Many tire threads have been posted with opinions all over the place, all with good ideas regarding brand, size, RFT or not, etc. I went with a new set of OEM Goodyears. Why mess with a good thing I say. The ride has always been fine, I do 90% interstate driving. And... my trusted indy wrench says the SAV's transmission shifts, sensors, speedometer are all tied to OEM tire sizing. "Only" $280.00 each.

I have used Tire Rack several times but was warned once to check the manufacture date, for less than popular sizes, they can sit in inventory for a long time. My mechanic put a "new" set on for a customer that were 2 years old.

I too think my factory 20 inch run flats are fine, if not good. No excessive tire noise, smooth and comfortable. RFT are much, much better than when they first came out!
Even Rolls-Royce puts them on the Ghost and Wraith...granted they are ONLY made for these 2 cars (Goodyear). Smooth and whisper quiet. |

For a popular tire like the DWS06 it's not much of a problem.

I've heard only good things in this forum about the Contis, but I don't find my Pirelli RFTs loud or uncomfortable. It saved me from getting a flat once so I like the peace of mind it offers.

I really need help....
I have the 2017 X5 MSport 35d.
I live in NH so the winter weather is a real factor. I leased my vehicle (30 months) about 6 months ago and now I need a different set of tire for the winter. I have the staggered 20 inch setup with performance sport tires, not All-Season. They are RFTs though and the car doesn't have the $150 spare kit. Are there any tire setups that are runflats, all season that meet the following sizes so that I do not need to buy rims? That would be cost prohibitive in my opinion. Front: 275/40R/20W Rear: 315/35R/20W On Town Fair Tires website they show the Bridgestone Dueler H/P Sport as a RUN FLAT / ALL SEASON but I can't confirm this ANYWHERE, not even on Bridgestones site. Thanks for your time in advance. |

WOW! How you got 68k miles out of 1 set of tires is amazing!! I get roughly 35k out of my tires before I start noticing less grip during rainy days. Beats the 20" wheels though...those hardly last 15000 miles and cost $500/each!
