anybody run 18s for the winter? Just got a 2018 X5 35d M Sport and interested in getting some 18s for the winter time. Car came with 20s and performance summer tires so its just sitting for now til I can find a 18" package to go with the car.

Yes, I run 255/55/18 Blizzaks with no problems other than the setup looks puny on an MSport. Not matter though since I only put them on when I need them so max of a couple weeks at a time for ski trips etc.

Yeah how it looks doesn't really matter to me because as you said its only for winter. Plus I'd rather have 18s for the larger tire and its cheaper anyways so i think. You had no issues fitting over the brakes? I read some people saying 18s wont fit over the brakes on the X5. What wheel are you using?

I have standard brakes and there are zero clearance issues. Wheels are Tire Rack specials (Sport Edition brand). Search for pics I posted last year when we got an unusual ant of snow (11"+) for our area. Setup performed flawlessly as usual/expected. Fourth winter with 'em.

Nice. Yeah i saw a thread you posted from a while back but the images are no longer available. Good to know that 18s work well on this car.

bumping this up. I'm looking at a setup of 19x8.5 wheels and thinking of going to a 225/55-19 tire. Has anyone run a tire this skinny? Or should I just go with OEM size of 255/50-19?

They are factory winter optional rims, they don’t look baller but they are cost effective. Yes I have an m sport. I will take a picture when the wife gets home with it.

Do you have specs on the wheel/tire setup? I am worried about caliper clearance with 18s. Looking at getting some 437M reps in 18s to run on the X5.

As long as you have a 35i your fine with 18” 50i has bigger brakes.

I have to figure out how to post a pic from my phone ...

Hmm I have a 35d. I'm assuming it's the same brakes as the 35i model?
