quality- running boards

So- it looks like i can get running boards for about $200, but the OEM are $600 or so. Any comments? Caveats? I really think I want these... makes it easier on the dogs, and seems cool.

Looking for all comments- functional, aesthetic, whatever.

The more ideas one gets- the better the result... <paraphrased>

Thanks!

Garage List
My car didn’t come with them. I ended up buying them myself from the dealer and installing them myself over a weekend.

About the factory ones:
If you want to use them to stand on they are kind of useless. They are much too narrow. Can’t even use them to load stuff onto the roof without opening the doors. I usually just end up standing on the rear tires when loading up the roof. That said I think they look great asthetically. Some people complain they get their pants legs dirty but I’ve never had this problem. They also protect the bottom part of the doors to some degree from debris kicked up by the front tires.
