They probably charged you an arm and leg for the convenience fee right? lol

I plan on doing the same. Spend time with family and then maybe midnight mass if I’m awake. Friends invited me to a get together NYE party but not gonna go.

We spent Christmas abroad enjoying 30c heat and the luxury of a bungalow with its own swim up pool. Whilst our flight home tomorrow. Isn’t until late afternoon I’m not going to over indulge this evening as flying with a hangover isn’t fun.

Nice, I don`t see an expiration date on the tickets...you will be able to use them year after year

I'm turning my air filter up to full blast and blasting white noise as loud as my stereo will allow. I wish I could find my silicon ear plugs. I hate NYE. I hate all these fuckin' holidays, honestly.

I think I’m going to go downtown tonight. About 95% sure. Chicago has these powerful projectors mounted on the river walk across from the Merchandise Mart and they project lots of cool video art onto the Mart and then this year they are doing an extra big fireworks show and launching fireworks from six of the downtown bridges across the Chicago river. I’ve never actually done anything in downtown Chicago on New Year’s Eve before.

I will be staying at home with the wife having a glass or two and trying to keep my cat comfortable during the fireworks and other noisy festivities.

Be safe if you go out. No drinking and driving. There will be DUI checkpoints. Some places the buses and subways are free between certain times.

Happy New Year to all! Cheers!

I love the holidays. Everyone’s spirits are high and are in good moods.

We are in the mountains as usual enjoying the snow, fires at night and local vibes. Had friends over yesterday. Kept the kids busy .

Tonite we’ll have dinner and I hope I’m in bed by 9pm, that’s celebrating these days. Our 11 yr old wants to stay up until midnight but I’m sure he’ll fall asleep before then.

Hot tub with champagne, seafood dinner maybe a nice bourbon at the end of the night. We've had all the children home over Christmas, having them all together is a blessing, they've all gone home now so just the two of us and the dogs. A quiet night. Neighbours coming over tomorrow for a few cocktails and then off to Florida for 3 months on the 4th.

Happy New Year to all, let's hope 2024 is better for everyone.

I already did the Times Square thing for New Year's Eve back when I was younger. Everyone should do it...at least once.

This year, I'll be in bed by 9:00 PM because I'm old.....

Nürnberg was cool on NYE. The first time I was there for NYE in the mid-80's, I was stunned at how many fireworks went off at midnight. Like a giant mushroom cloud over the city. The next year we got caught in the middle of a bottle rocket fight between drunks and some idiot stuck a huge rocket into the ground right near us and lit it. It was stuck too far into the ground, so it never lifted off and blew up right there. Showered us in flaming debris. That was it for me. Never went back. And that was my last time being out for NYE.

I'm watching a live cam of Nürnberg now. The fun is already starting. Got it showing full screen on the big TV.

I hate fireworks. I guess that means I’m old.

I’ll leave now.

Definitely better watching them on TV. Less noise and no chance of getting blowed up.

Same with the Rose Parade. Did it when I was 17 or so. Get there the evening before, sleep on the street, if you can as it's one big party, watch the parade and go home to get some sleep. Everyone should do it once. then never again!

Oh yeah... Going out to eat (Panda, maybe) coming home, watching some TV (probably something recorded) and then going to bed. I haven't made it to midnight in many, many moons.

Yep, agree. Did it once. That's all I need. Lived in Pasadena at the time. Why not since I lived right there.

Not much for crowds and noise these days and the floats don't impress me.

BTW, I came back. I'm leaving again.
