Replacing the F85/F86?
I have had my F85 for nearly four years (MY 2016) and have enjoyed every minute of it. From the Performance Center delivery to today, it has been sporty, luxurious, fast, comfortable and just a great car.
I have never been a fan of SUVs (or SAVs, as BMW labels them). The F85 is/was different. It minimizes or eliminates all of those unwanted attributes of SUVs, from sluggish performance to body roll. I almost bought another AMG sedan in '15. I'm glad I opted for the X5 M instead. I'm not in a rush to get rid of the car (I have 41K miles) but I wanted to ask this group (with the shared experience and background) the following: "What will you get or intend to get to replace your X5/X6 M?" Just trying to see what people consider comparable or an improvement to this car. Thanks. |

I just bought an ‘18 X5M couple weeks ago after driving a ‘13 Cayenne GTS for 6 years. Having done many test drives of SUVs the past month, I can tell ya there nothing out there that drives as well as these cars in the performance suv category.
Super performance, there’s the lambo and Porsche Cayenne turbo s. But that’s too rich for my blood. |

One of two scenarios if I did get rid of it...
1) the new 2020 RS6 Wagon 2) Rivian truck with a Superformance MKIII Cobra 427 to go along with it...

Contemplating the same right now. Been the X5m for about 4 years and have enjoyed every minute. The car is paid off and have a m4 lease expiring March next year. Started looking at replacements for the m4 and for some reason the f90 m5 is perking my interest. But as I think about it more the m5 and X5m kind of serve the same purpose. Large fast car to haul the family around. I put very low miles on the m4 compared to my lease. At 15k with a 30k allowance. 2k of it was in the last two months as I have been pushing to feel good that I didn’t waste a bunch of miles
So I don’t know what’s next for me. If I do get something like a m5 I would slim down to only one car. But I am sure after a couple of months I will yearn for something different |

Whenever the time does comes to replace my X5M, i’ll just get another X5M. I’m not digging the look of the next gen X5M so until it grows on me, I won’t be making the jump.

The Cayenne Turbo S doesn't thrill me. In some ways it's more refined and advanced, in others, it is not. |

I have two years for something to grow on me, current lease is up Oct 2021. Not loving the pictures of the new X6, might go to X5M. I had several X5s before switching to the X6 in 2010. We'll see. If not, maybe Cayenne Turbo? I'd like to stay with BMW though. The GLE 63 Coupe catches my eye all the time but any driving enthusiasts I've talked to that had experience with MB and BMW shake their head no. Time will tell.

G80 M3 and probably an American Pickup.. I love my F85 I really don't want to let it go but being realistic it isn't smart for me to have 4 car notes at once and I'm the main driver at home so I figure I just narrow things down to vehicles that I actually will use.
M3 for Mexico trips... pick up for everyday / family trips and Prius just cause I want guys to laugh at me on the road so I can go home and get my M3 😂. If I keep the F85 I'm probably gonna dump a ton of cash into it anyways and the way my bank account setup... *Kevin heart voice
