Seems pretty similar in volume to stock, but with a "beefier" sound. Hard to tell given the variety of devices used to capture all of our video/sound sources.

It isn't much louder than stock but once I get on it, you can hear it. I am going to invest in a GoPro soon so maybe it will be better.

They are 4" tips but the guy had to trip 1/4 of the bumper to make them fit. He said this is probably the most impressed work he has done since he is a BMW guy. He drove it and said it is stupid quick but little did he realize it is tuned lol

I don't have that but it's the 2.5" ultra quiet resonators. The tune adds more pops and bangs now!

Does anybody else hear a loud "whoosh" sound under WOT? Sounds like a jet engine. Or maybe opening up a 1" air hose. Anyone?

Maybe this is normal. I've never done an open exhaust on a turbo car before - maybe they all sound this way...?

Yes, when windows down or in a tunnel/overpass.

I've noticed it too. Isn't that the turbo?

I'm left to conclude that it is the turbo. Like I said, I haven't opened up the exhaust on a turbo car before. The last turbo car I had before this was an '84 Mustang SVO, in 1984-87.

Just got the X5 back from the exhaust surgeon. The sound with the Vibrant 1792 bottle-style resonators was terrific, but too loud. I hadn't really noticed how loud it was outside, since the cabin of the F15 is so well insulated, but I got an earful of it the other day when I floored it under a wide overpass. Christ on crutches, it was loud.

So I had the Vibrant Ultra-Quiet resonators swapped in, and it's way better now. Same sound, but the volume's been turned from 10 down to 4. It's much more consistent with the overall character of the vehicle now. Very happy.

LOL. We're not old, we're mature.

The whole car has to work together in a cohesive way, or it messes with my head. Loud exhaust and a luxury SUV that's daily-driven just didn't work for me.

That's the setup I was recommending for people, who thought a simple delete is too loud.

I think videos we take don't really help justify the sound of the exhaust. Reason why I'm waiting for GoPro Black Friday sale

The problem is that "loud" is relative, and you can't tell how loud something is without something else of a known loudness in the same sound source, to compare it to. If we made our exhaust videos at the end of an airport runway, right when a plane taking off flew over, you wouldn't be able to hear the car at all. It would sound soft, and then when the plane was gone it'd sound loud.

I have a solution, fortunately. All exhaust videos from now on shall be recorded with an accordion accompaniment. All the old videos will need to be re-done. Who's in?

Thanks for taking the time to quantify your experience for those of us who haven't done it yet. I don't want a super loud exhaust either. And I don't know why people would ever want the "burble" on our cars either.

I have a few - a very few - burbles. It's not adjustable in the BM3 tune or through coding with Bimmercode, unless it's tucked away somewhere and I haven't found it. I wouldn't want any more than what I already have. Wouldn't fit the character of the vehicle.

Hate the extra "fart can or pop corn maker" burbles created by the tunes. X5 has its own pops here and there w/o a tune anyways and when you delete the muffler, you hear them loud and clear depending on your driving style.
I refuse to drive a car that starts making obnoxious popping sounds each time I lift my foot from the gas unless I am driving for one of the top teams in the WRC!

I drove a new Z4 M40i several months back. Had a fair amount of crackles and pops in Sport mode. That would get really old, really quick, in a street car that's a daily or most-days driver.
