Driving Stabilization Initialization Error

Saturday late morning the car threw the following message "Driving Stabilization: Drive Moderately. Initialization in progress. Driving stabilization will be available after automatic initialization."

The error makes it seem as though the car is calibrating the DSC, but after two days of driving the error will not clear. It only kicks on seconds after driving, not at startup....any ideas here? I should note this happened only after the battery was disconnected for a few minutes for an unrelated item....

I also had the car in for a diagnostic early Saturday morning as it was throwing a restraint fault code. The scanned the car and found an issue with one of the seat belts, but no other codes came up and was given a clean bill of health...hoping this isn't the start of electrical gremlins with this car (2014 w/ 35K miles on the clock)...

Battery is primary suspect, I'd say.

I wrench quite a bit on my 2006 GTO and MK7 Golf R...but I am inherently terrified to touch anything on the BMW

It could be a bad abs wheel sensor perhaps? Try to check your codes.

I had this happen just a few months ago after replacing my battery. Ended up having to do a recalibration of the electric power steering and steering angle sensor. I had a friend do the process since I didn't know what was going on.

Apologies, been off the forum for a while. Did exactly what blasterman79 noted. My local shop did a quick recalibration of the steering angle sensor via their scanner tool. Then had to do the manual reset and was good to go (turning the wheel in each direction).

Stability Control

Did anyone manage to solve it without the scanner. the notification comes up everytime the car goes above 20kms speed. i thought it might be the speed sensors change all four speed sensors and its still not going! Can someone suggest what can it be. Thanks

Regards Jamie

Like blasterman78 mentioned as well, I needed to recalibrate the steering angle using ISTA. I heard mixed results using a scanner, so I decided not to spend money on that. Clearing the codes did not suffice since the error kept coming back after a few miles.

+1

I disconnected my battery to install an andream mmi box and upon reconnect got the same problem. I only recently bought the car and my ENET cable hasn't arrived yet so I took it back to the dealer and after a little bit of cajoling from me they took a look, reset and calibrated the steering angle sensor at no charge which fixed the issue.
