Fuel consumption
Hi guys,
I had searched and notice a number of people are getting quite a good fuel consumption where my vehicle information is showing 25.9 litres/100 km. Is this normal? I am driving in city with heavy traffic most of the time. car is few months old and bought new. |

Are you sure it's not miles per gallon ? Otherwise you are doing an equivalent of 9.5 miles per gallon. Never seen in my book of bimmers. |

If someone has a higher average KM/H (MPH) versus someone with a lower average...when comparing fuel consumption...then one with the higher average will usually always appear to be getting better fuel consumption. Heavy city/urban driving with lots of stop-n-go, higher engine revs from multiple take-offs from traffic lights & stop signs...heavy braking ...engine idleing while stopped/not moving...all will result in a low average KM/H (MPH) and higher fuel consumption versus someone driving long miles on a highway with a constant engine RPM, little braking, and no engine idling.

OMG...that's equivalent to 7.4 MPH! That's some REALLY heavy city driving (actually sounds more like idling vs driving).
With a KM/H that low...I'd have to assume that you spend a lot of time with the engine running/idling...but you're not moving very far...and when you do, you're taking off (which means high engine RPM), then having to brake again, or creep along in traffic. If you could find yourself in a driving condition where you were at a constant engine RPM for a longer period of time with less stop-n-go and little engine idling...your KM/H average would be higher. My daily driving/commute which is probably 98% all urban/city driving...and the 2% highway only occurs rarely...and I average 24.93 MPH/40.12 KM/H.
