Fluid maintenance question

Hi guys have a few questions so Im nearing 55k miles and plan on changing fluids that I havent done yet for my 35i Xdrive. I did a search and found out for the front diff I would need two bottles of #83222413511 fluid and two #33117525064 drain/fill plugs.

For my transfer case I would need just one bottle of #83222409710 and just one #33117525064 fill plug (guessing plugs are same as diff)

Would like to know the fill amount as nothing is mentioned on newtis or am I reading it wrong.. but am I suppose to empty out the bottles while filling on both diff and tc?

Also on another thread it is mentioned some have used ista after doing TC fluid change...is that a must?
Im under bmw extended warranty so I just want to br sure. Thanks in advance!

You fill until fluid comes out the fill hole.
The transfer case takes less than a quart from what I remember. I think the differentials take around 2 quarts each. Car remember exactly.

Actually, for the front diff there's a specific amount to fill, not "up to the fill hole". Whether it's THAT crucial is up to a debate, bit worth mentioning.

I can't seem to find the correct fill amount would you know where I can get the info.. been searching and the only thing I found was the TC requires .6 of a litre and even thats not something official rather just someones opinion.

Good on you for doing driveline fluid changes, something 99% of owners don't do. The front, rear, and TC all have fill plugs and you'll top them all off (full when fluid runs out of fill). The front diff actually has a drain plug.
Front and rear will take about 1.2-1.4 liters and the TC is less than 1 liter.
There are alternatives to the BMW stuff, such as Red Line 75w90 in the diffs and the Shell TSEC for the TC.
I didn't replace my plugs, but that's up to you. Assuming they're in good condition you can use your judgement to reuse.

I never did the calibration and I have 40k miles since fluid change. Not sure how critical it is.

I believe TC "calibration" just resets fluid change countdown (to another 150k miles or so).

He mentioned couple of his customers have come in with jerking issues after they changed there TC fluids and found they did not calibrate or had no idea they were suppose to. For some calibrating fixed the jerking and for others they just had a bad TC from the getgo, cant always believe everything said from a dealer but I guess better safe than sorry
