Mppk installation

I searched through the mppk threads and couldn't find the answer. I was going to purchase one online and have a local bmw shop install. When I inquired how much they'd barge they said about 200. However, he also wasn't sure if I'd be covered u see warranty with a non-direct purchased part.

Is this something people have run into? I'd hate to buy it here and then not be able to install. Or worse, not have my car covered down the road.

I don’t see why it wouldn’t be covered. It’s an OEM BMW part being installed by BMW service. It comes in a sealed package, if it’s opened I’d send it right back for a refund.

My dealer quoted me $159 for the install. They had my car for nearly 4 weeks and could not get the kit installed. Now I'm trying to get the money back from the seller. Good luck to you!

Did they ever figure out why it wouldn’t install?
The only common issue I’ve seen reported is a VIN matching issue.

This is interesting. Mine just arrived and I am scheduled to have it installed Tuesday of next week. I spoke with someone from the service department who explained that it would be around $175 and no more than $200. He didn't mention anything else, just said that if there were any outstanding updates needed they would be installed at that time. He didn't ask me where I got the MPPK from or anything like that.

MPPK install success

Two service techs tried 4 times over an hour and a half trying to figure out how to install the MPPK in my 2015 X5 35i. This was their first MPPK install, so the lead tech finally phoned BMW USA. Turned out BMW had to set the authorization in order for the vehicle software update to initialize at the dealer. After BMW set the approval, the install took all of 15 minutes. They still even charged me only $120 as quoted even though spending nearly 2 hours working on it. And I didn't mind the hour drive since the local dealer, which I actually drove by on the way, quoted a minimum $300.

And yes, it was definitely worth it. Initial hesitation is virtually eliminated. More torque all around. Though it goes faster I wouldn't call it quick but the stronger acceleration can definitely be felt.

Sorry I never responded to questions. No they never found out why it wouldn't work. Even after getting a new code from Germany they still had the same issue where it would give them some error. I ended up returning the code, seller was pretty great when it came to returning now opened code.

I purchased the MPPK & MPE from the dealer when I ordered my F15 35i. They gave me 20% off, & had it installed when I took delivery of the vehicle. They did both at the same time. Took them about an hour. Charged me 1hr labor. Never one issue with it.
