Only a few months left on the lease and I am still undecided about what to get to replace this solid beauty.

I know, bro, but what are my choices? I just had a small round-trip today to Delaware and back (300 miles) under constant heavy rain and I loved every minute of it. The car felt planted, strong, comfy. Pure joy to drive in any condition.

Why not just own it after your lease. I think the F15 looks nicer than the G05 and the 2018 50i is pretty solid.

I agree on the looks. Never liked the G05 design (that's why I leased my current F15 by the end of 2018 instead of a new G05). I have been trying to force myself to grow positive feelings at least toward the F95, but besides the power, there is nothing very attractive about the car.
In terms of purchase, my lease was an amazing deal, so the residual is too high for a sound financial purchase after the lease despite the low mileage.
Tried to look at the AMG SUVs (the real AMG ones, not the fake AMG labeled ones) but they do not feel like driver's cars, despite the fact I own a S63 AMG and I am kind used to the dynamics of the MB cars.

There is an elegance to the clean lines of the F15/F85 that is missing in the G05. The new styling has more of an Asian flair, which is fine if you like that.

I get your point on leasing vs. buy at the end since BMW has a high residual value which makes leasing very attractive.

I wasn't even planning on getting an X5 when I found mine that had just come off of a lease, original MSRP close to $100K and I got it for 52K with CPO and a few miles below 19K. I added a CPO wrap warranty for $3,900 that is bumper to bumper for 7 years and unlimited miles for $56K. When I got it, all tires, battery, door seals, brakes, etc were all brand new! Not a single curb rash or dent on the body. I figured, I could get this or a brand new Lexus RX or MDX for the same price and went with the X5 since the effective warranty is the same as a new car....plus it is more comfortable and much more fun to drive.

G05's are growing on me, but the massive front grill has to be blacked out ASAP!!! The B58 in the 40i is a very intriguing motor to me. Flash tune w/ downpipes puts that motor around 390-440whp and around 450 lb-ft torque. Very strong and thus far reliable motor that can handle a lot of hp on stock internals. Sounds amazing too IMO.

Exactly. Mine has 16K on it with a similar MSRP and when I return it, somebody will snatch it up for the same sales price whereas I'd pay substantially more to get it myself.

I agree. It is an amazing engine in the 3/4 series and lighter SAV like the X3 but the X5 is substantially heavier and when you get used to having the 8 cyl engine with the tune, it'll probably feel a little under-powered. The only G05 that looked kinda good to me is the one wearing the Hamann 23-inch wheels.

I think that motor freed up will surprise you, and be more reliable than the V8. Not a dig btw, just my opinion. Ok, I've said my peace I'll leave it alone.

Car has to go back to stock to return to BMW correct? I'm assuming, you held on to the stock hood?
