I've been an avid sailboat racer for 40 years, never gets old.

Here's a picture from Newport, RI at an early season tune up in 2019. I've done thousands of ocean miles on this boat since it was new in February 2018. The boat belongs to a friend of mine.

My dad shared a 1/4 interest in a 32' racing slough for years, a long time ago. The "Scotch Mist" We used it far more than our 1/4, I was always fishing off it at the docks.

I took it out once with 2 buddies while I was in HS. The wind was blowing hard directly across the harbor entrance, and we ended up on the rocks. Harbor patrol towed us back to the dock, and when my mom showed up we were in the water re-glassing some of the damage on the bow.

They're ships, you can put a boat on a ship but you can't put a ship on a boat....

And yes they are boats.

Peace, and thank you for your service.

I was never so proud as when my daughter got back from flying a C-130 Hercules from Nova Scotia to England and back for the first time.

I'd like to think I pointed them all in the right direction.

You’ve heard of poetic license for writers? It’s the same thing for us Navy guys in this respect
We actually do know the difference

Awesome, we were plane guard for the Washington during my first cruise and during the 50th reenactment of Normandy. We also went thru the Suez Canal with just the Washington on the way to the gulf for a special assignment.

Not back when I was sailing. They are mainly known for their container ships and crude oil tankers.

It seems to be a niche market, but some cargo carriers do have a few cabins on container ships and such for paying passengers who aren't expecting a pool deck and cruise director to keep them entertained. I was just curious to get an opinion on how the crew feels about having non-seamen traveling on their cargo ships and getting under their feet.

I don't know how much truth there is to it, but I remember reading somewhere that the perk for cargo ships carrying passengers was that they received priority pilot and tug services at some busy ports.....

May be the case in some shady smaller companies but it is technically against the law. That would be classified as a stowaway. I have never seen or heard of that in my 14 years of sailing on tankers.

Speaking of stowaways did you ever have one on a vessel you crewed?

Luckily no but two episodes of Pirate attacks which were unsuccessful thanks to the 3 storey freeboard of VLCC's
