Top view as default when reversing

On my 640i (CIC), the cameras remembered the "last used" option when reversing. I had it set to the top view, and this was what always came up when reversing/pressing the parking button (to enable cameras/PDC).

On the F16 (NBT), the default is to rear-view cam, no matter what was used last. I have to then click the iDrive controller to switch it to top view.

Is there any way (coding or otherwise) to make it default to top view?

This is not true. Sometimes my reverse view is set to top view and not rear view camera. I think it has to do with some coding to save default values to the key.

in the regular UI there is no way to force what camera to show when switching to R.

I do like the fact that (the default behavior is) when any of the front sensors trigger PDC to come on (while in Drive) it will be top view and remain top view even when switching to R. When switching to R without PDC activate, it activates PDC and shows the rear view parking view.

Also the near 180 degrees wide-angle rear view is very neat (use it almost daily). You get this view when in R and you press the camera button.

Can you switch between rear view & top view by just pressing the PDC button on the console (instead of using the iDrive controller)? You should be able to do that on your 640 because I do it all the time on my f06. It would be a quicker way to switch between the views (if it works that way on your f16) than having to use iDrive.

Hmmm, this is strange my F15 remembers the last view was used, plus I can always switch by pushing iDrive controller once.

Which MY is your F15?

Searching shows me that this is a documented thing amongst many models equipped with NBT, but I can't find any consensus on whether it's MY related or otherwise.

Yes, this is the way mine behaves. I'm used to the last setting being the default, and it's annoying to have to click the iDrive everytime to get to top view.

Consensus seems to be that it's istep dependent, which makes me sad because I insisted on the istep update before taking delivery of the car... Wish I left it, as it would probably have the bahavior that I want on original 2016 istep version.

F*ck.

My guess is the regulations changing for mandatory rearview camera (already in effect or coming soon) are accounted for in the newer software releases.

Yep, pretty sure that this is what it is.

It's not a big deal, but it is an inconvenience. Quite strange that it can't be coded, that's what's pissing me off the most.
