The F85 X5 M has been spotted in testing since late 2012, and the F86 X6 M has now bared nearly all in our latest spy photos.

It's not difficult to identify this next generation X6 M as it shows the tell-tale M model signs - huge front air intakes, more aggressive sideskirts and rear diffuser, blue M brakes, and cross drilled rotors (the first for any X6 model). The newest M styling trends are also evident -- the double-slatted kidney grilles and the angled exhaust tips.

As our latest photos show, the front end styling of the next generation X6 (F16) and X6 M (F86) will share a similar front end design to the X5 (F15) and X5 M (F85), while the rear end draws heavily from the BMW X4 tail design.

Like the X5 M, the X6 M is expected to weigh in a bit less than the current model, yet it will feature more power by way of the twin turbo V8 S63Tu engine from the new M5/M6. Exact power is not yet known, but it's likely to uprated from the 560hp in the M5/M6.

The X5 M and X6 M will also be equipped with the M-DCT transmission, as seen below.

According to our 2015 BMW production chart, the new X5 M and X6 M will begin production December 2014 - January 2015.

So body style will be exactly similar to current model with lights from the F15, that's how I see it so far

it looks very similar to F15 with the X6 rear design...
X6 has been the most profitable line of BMW's models...least engineering required as they just use F15's...

Why does BMW bother employing a design team? This just looks like the old one and that was no looker!

Profile looks pretty good, looks like an M dune buggy/rally car...kinda cool. Also the movable rear spoiler is a nice touch.

I beg to differ! I think both gens of X6 look great. I'm not biased or anything, of course.

The design makes the X6 look less bulky and heavy.
Good job, this is going to be a great car, the original set the bar high.
Hopefully the front can look better than the F15, and the rear lights, looks close to the F25.
A good start!

Really don't like that the angled exhaust tips have become a thing on M cars. I much prefer that straight cut, non-rolled tips of the M Performance exhausts.
