Replacing Rear Bump Stops

Does anybody have a 'How to Guide' for replacing rear bump stops with our airbags?

I have the H&R VTF kit on the way with F10 M5 Bump Stops for all corners,

I've been pointed to a fantastic DIY guide for everything else but it makes no mention of the rear bump stops anywhere

Thanks I'm advance

Bump...

Have you ever figured out?

Do we have bump stops in the rear with air suspension?

Thank you

That's correct, bump stops on the rear are the same as fronts which I used M5 bump stops ordered direct from BMW, great fitment and a fairly easy job

If I'm not mistaken replacement should be easy but you have to remove the rear strut

Good to know! Assuming F10 M5, correct? So basically the same item x4?

Thank you for confirming.

Yup, I ended up getting 4 as well. I'll throw them on someday… I'm still burnt out from installing my downpipes… if you click on the picture, it shows the part numbers etc.

Doesn't appear anyone answered this Q.

It's is pretty easy. Under the lift up floor in the trunk you can access the 3 bolts that hold the shock in. Remove those.

Unplug the EDC harness, just follow the wire, it plugs in under the wheel well behind the back tire.

Remove the lower shock mount. And it will come out.

Use an impact gun on the top nut. I also hold the shaft so it doesn't spin.

Pop the new bump stops on and repeat the process.

Pic of how I hold the shaft when removing it, this is the front so it's much easier on the rear without the spring in the way

This is a must have for your tool box. A pass thru ratchet works way better and minimize any damage you can do to the strut via brut force..

Whereas it's OK to use an impact gun on the top nut while unscrewing it, avoid using it while tightening - you could easily over-torque the nut and strip it. Use a wrench and torque it to spec.

I have a pass through. Takes an hour and a day to use it lol. Bought it just for that and innovated with the grippy and vice grip. Works perfect, no spinning at all
