I would go with 275/40 & 315/35 21 to improve comfort. This combo is used by some forum members. |

There's no issue and you cannot tell the difference of added 10mm front and rear.

I agree a NON RFT would be better haha. But options were limited at the time I purchased. I’m coming up on new tires needed again lol, go figure. This time I’m thinking about trying 285/40/21 and 315/35/21. I found great tire options here because Porsche has a lot of cars using this size. This does have a 1% difference where my current setup has a 0%. The car is lowered on Dinan now, and over 10K miles not a single issue or hiccup along the way. Ride comfort although lowered and on RFT is amazing, no exaggeration!

By the way, unless there is a typo somewhere, the sizes you mentioned will be 6.9% difference in diameter according to tire size calculator. Last edited by Blue By You; 01-02-2022 at 01:28 PM.. |

Yeah, that's a lot of extra cushion for those wheels. I never thought I'd say this. But I'm debating using OEM sizes for a new set of BC Forged wheels partially for that same reason. (The 22" setup I like is almost the same exact diameter as OEM, so it's simply sidewall loss.) And because I have two full sets of OEM tires, it just might make more sense as long as I can get aggressive enough with the offsets. Yours look great so there is hope for me! |

Any ways to get the new X5M wheels to fit safely? I know they make hub conversions etc, but don't know much about them. Lots of those wheels on EBay for decent prices, however the bolt pattern has been changed.

And I feel like it looks better as the suspension settled over some decent miles now. Happy to report ride is still great!

Thought I'd add some fun facts here regarding my latest set of 285/325 Michelin Pilot Super Sports...
Installed at 67,397 miles Replaced at 96,290 miles Total miles out of a set: 28,893 I really wanted to get to 30,000 miles but I didn't even make 29,000. I could have if it wasn't for the passenger front showing the steel belts on the outside of the tire. Final stats at 28,893 miles: Passenger front: Inside: 3.5/32nds Middle: 5/32nds Outer: 5.25/32nds Driver front: Inside: 3.5/32nds Middle: 5.5/32nds Outer: 5.75/32nds Passenger rear: Inside: 3/32nds Middle: 4.25/32nds Outer: 4.25/32nds Driver rear: Inside: 3.5/32nds Middle: 4.25/32nds Outer: 4.5/32nds |

so ive read this entire thread and am still kind of confused on what i can and cant do. i understand that the front to back size ratio needs to be within 1-1.5 percent of each other. i am thinking of upgrading to 22" wheels and found some tires that i like which are the nitto nv420v in a 325/35R22 for the rear and 285/40R22 for the front.
i understand the larger tire size is 2" bigger than factory and that would change the speedometer/actual speed settings but other than that it should not be an issue right? really would like to updgrade to a 22" wheel and still have a decent sidewall amount while filling in the wheel well gap. |

But think about jacking up your M off of the ground by more than 1" due to the increase in overall diameter. You'll get the tire sizes and fender fill, but the height might look a little goofy. |
