Brembo Rotor vs Zimmerman Rotor

Hey guys,

Local Canadian tire has Brembo rotors on sale for $104.99 + tx each rotor

so a total of $480 after taxes picked up (canadian moneys)

Or i can purchase Zimmerman rotors for about $408 taxes in from GermanParts.ca

Which rotors would you recommend for better performance?

I consider better performance

1. Grip
2. Longevity
3. Less Brake Dust

I have purchased Akebono pads and some sensors from rock auto

Thoughts?

Not sure about the Brembo's but a couple months ago I upgraded to the Zimmerman / Akebono combo (from germanparts.ca as well), and have been loving them so far, great performance, no dust or noise.

Sorry, I could have been more clear. When buying blank rotors, my experience has shown me the Brembo brand blanks are not that great. I have however, had excellent experience, numerous times buying Zimmerman coated rotors.

"Zimmerman rotor set with "Coat Z Anti-Corrosion" coating. This coating has the following advantages: No formation of rust at the hub and herewith improved visual appearance Immediate functional capability..."

Depends which zimmerman, like pointed above make sure you get the coated once, OEM BMW rotors made by zimmerman are not coated and they rust crazy fast, was driving me nuts. Brembo are decent in my opinion, but I end up with ECS Tuning rotors just for looks, slotted and drilled. Paired with Akebono pads they are amazing.

The whitish light color typically means they are "a" coated. You should confirm with the supplier.

I have used the coated Zimmermans on 3 bmw's and 1 mercedes and was always pleased with performance and longevity. As to brake dust, it really matters what pads are used. For street use Hawk 5.0's create very little in my experience.

Another vote for Zimmerman 2-piece rotors. Excellent product.

I have had excellent performance, low noise or dusting with the Zimmerman/Akebono combination on my 4 BMWs.

I had terrible squealing after mounting Zimmerman so my mechanic replaced them with a second set with the same result and ultimately sent them back and mounted Brembo instead for no extra charge. Has been good since then. If you need an excellent mechanic for these cars near midtown Toronto let me know I can intro you.

Yes, used to buy from them, they were okay.

Have long switched to Brakemotive though. I believe they are basically rebranded Powerstops... and have never had a problem with them.
