This is approach I took earlier this year, replaced not only the steering wheel trim, but also the shift knob and center console all in Carbon Fiber. It certainly changes the whole appearance of the vehicles interior.
And I also changed out the pedal covers for ///M versions, unfortunately I don't have photos saved on my work computer. |

Looks great! I have the smaller CF trim that replaces the brushed aluminum piece but after seeing this, I'm thinking I should get the one like yours.

Matches my dash and gear lever. Next is the gear surround area looks like I may have to have this carbon dipped as the part number for right hand drive vehicles is no longer available |

The decorative CF pieces around steering wheel controls, look great in the advertisement but generally doesn't look as nice on your wheel. I personally think it looks a little janky.....
We have a Hispanic guy here in Northern VA, that has a C63 AMG. And he has every piece of Carbon Fiber you could ever put on a C63 on it. If you can name it, he's got it. There is such a thing as too much carbon fiber, it's called carbon overload. For me, I like the right amount of interior and exterior carbon fiber pieces to accentuate the vehicle. A good friend of mine bought a CF steering wheel for his E55 AMG, quality is 100%. But after looking at it, it's carbon overload. When I replaced my steering wheel, I went a different route. This wheel has held up well for me, I've contemplated doing my X5M. I wish that someone would make an Alcantara steering wheel that retains the heating feature. Noice! Do you get any 'ghost' or error codes when you installed your ceramics?

My attempt at a carbon steering wheel finally done! Not without some issues, the carbon trim piece I received around the airbag wasn't for the right M so I just used my stock piece for now instead of taking it all apart again!
