That's a shame, I know we're asking too much but if I am going to go through all that trouble, I'd rather have clear reflectors which would go very well with x-line and remain functional. Otherwise, I'll just try dipping it and see how it looks before paying $100 for a piece of plastic and pulling things apart.

PS: I still love this idea:

I have a roll of black carbonfiber liners in my office, does anyone have the template for the front reflectors?

Actually, I wanted to dip and paint over that with BMW paint so it makes it easier to remove in case of any violation, etc.. especially lease end.

Closer pictures would be nice.
If there is a template that I can print 1:1 that would be great, otherwise I'll just go out and trace it with vellum or something and try.

I'll upload some pics during lunch since I left my food in the X5 anyways.

Ok so these are the iND Alpine White painted reflectors, they have 3m tape on the front side of them which I should guess attaches to the inside of the bumper, and as for any quick release I do not see anything that would make these pop in and out. Anybody care to chime in who has replaced these?

Thanks for this thread, I was going to go the IND painted route, but I think I am going to wrap the reflectors with this:

Even if you go the carbon fiber route (I don't recommend it), wouldn't it be better to at least get a gloss finished version to better match your gloss Alpine White body? http://www.amazon.com/White-Semi-Glo...on+fiber+white

See this is why I post my ideas as they come Please expound on why you don't think the white CF on the reflectors would be good?

If it's a matte finish, which the 3M version you posted is, it will look tacky with the rest of your Alpine White body since it has clearcoat (giving it a gloss finish). You should at least have a gloss look. I know you like carbon fiber since that is what you did with your emblems and wrapped your trim piece with. For your trim piece, you used 3D carbon, which looks cheap (I hate saying that about others' mods). You should have used tech carbon gloss making it look better/more premium: http://www.amazon.com/Black-carbon-p...s+carbon+fiber. I hope you get what I'm saying. I think your mods are great...I'm just giving some helpful info to make them better. Of course, you can completely disagree...that's the beauty of opinions and taste - we're all different .

I'm sure many don't like my mods .

So true, for example I hate the glossy black CF. But on the white I think your suggestion for the gloss finish is spot on. I think I will order some and just try it out on the back reflectors to see how it looks with the mineral white. Now enough of our mods before we get accused of

Well the wait will be until the weekend since I don't have time to even mount them myself.

Have you gotten around to installing the painted sidemarkers Taran? Hard to believe they are only held in place by double-sided tape. Can someone confirm? I have an amber set on the way (haven't decided what route to take yet... tint or wrap).
