The 6 extra laps on LEC tires at that point were not enough to cause that great a delta and VER would have got him either way. HAM had 2 laps to go on old tires needing to fire them up after a safety car when his opponent moved to fresh softs - so much more grip with the added bonuses of firing them much more quickly and not needing to make them last a full stint.
Yup I had that in the back of my mind, lets also remember the DRS of RB is like no other, so a double edged sword against Leclerc and really the propensity of Max to 'add on' pace when needed with the set up and driving style...you could say Charlie was a sitting duck whatever the strat.
* oh lets not forget the 4.7 second R/F wheel change hick up on Charlie also, another one to add to the so called #ferrarithings

Incredibly talented in open space but quite an asshole when racing. But it gets him wins. Not a gentleman like Fernando or even Sergio. Just an asshole. But a winning asshole.

Hopefully he will gain some maturity and decency as he gets older. It will make him a better driver and a better person.

Oh yes. The race was spectacular. One of the best of the year. Well done USA and Vegas. You did an awesome job.

With only a few laps remaining, normally the race will finish with a SC because there wasn't enough laps to fix the the problem and get all lapped cars free. But objectively speaking, those standard safety car rules were not followed, Masi instead applied a never before seen 'the race director can call in safety car whenever he wants' clause.

SO - If he pits, Max will stay out, gaining track position, and the race might finish as it normally would, and Max would win

If he doesn't pit, Max will pit, as Max has nothing to lose as he will still come out second.

So the reason HAM was not able to pit was he didn't have enough of a gap.

The reason he didn't have enough of a gap was because of a guy called Sergio Perez. Without Perez intervention LH will have more than enough gap.

Therefore the reason Ham didn't pit was Sergio Perez.
I don't agree with this. Rule 15.3 of the regs allows the race director full control of the safety car.

We see time and time again, where Ver has gone for the new tires and lost position knowing he had the better/fresher tires.

Just getting back. Over all it was a good first showing. They do need to work on a few things.

Having Vegas in November imo is not the greatest for a night race. I think if Quali was 2hours earlier grid positions would have been closer to "normal".

Race thoughts. I think Max divebombed his way to the win. I have to rewatch the contact with Russel. I felt the corner was Russels as the same vs Leclarc but Max went off track with Leclarc.

Overall it was a great race though. I watched it from a friends window in the Flamingo. and was at Turn 12 for Quali and FP3.

How would you describe such driver behavior ? A dirty side ?
whataboutism. I don't care what LEW did to Max, it's about Max still showing that he's got a dirty streak, and he gets a pass.

Max got a 5 second penalty for his turn one shenanigans, so yes, it was absolutely dirty and against racing rules. Period. And to not acknowledge that he drove the first place car off the road and give back the place, and then say "send them my regards" on the radio just reinforces his lack of sportsmanship.

And the only one responsible for "keeping it clean" was Charles. He backed off and went way deep. The only one displaying any sort of care was Charles.

George was technically at fault, no doubt, but sending it inside of George on a corner like that on a street course was unnecessarily dangerous. Max could have just passed him 10 seconds later on the straight, but no. George was either going to hit Max or hit the wall. Again, had Checo done that, ya'll would be up in arms about how dirty his driving style is.

Divebombing through corners is not what I expect of a world champion.

Edit: Max did the same thing to Ocon in quali as well, ruining Ocon's flying lap. He should have been given a grid penalty... Dove inside of turn one so hard that he cut in front of Ocon and went off the out side of the track. And again, immediately gets on the radio and berates Ocon when he was clearly the one in the wrong.

And yes, Charles did the same move on Checo that Max did on George, but Charles was actually clear of Checo by the time the corner came. Max was 2 wide going into really tight corners on a street course. Dangerous.

Here's some good news?

Formula E to attend UN's COP28 climate summit
Formula E will begin its tenth season by attending the United Nations’ COP28 Climate Change Conference in Dubai from November 30 until December 12 in a bid to persuade other sports to follow its lead on sustainability.
The open-wheel series was the first in motorsport to embrace all-electric drivetrains in 2014.
But Formula E hasn’t just been about sustainability and technology development – it has been able to back both of those things up with a quality sporting product, too. Last season saw Formula E break every one of its records for overtakes, lap times, and speeds achieved in races.
https://racer.com/2023/11/20/formula...limate-summit/

Personally I would rather watch paint dry than watch a Formula E event. (sorry can't call it a race)
Audi, BMW and Mercedes are leaving for a reason.

Danica, as usual missing the mark, but indirectly shining some light on the problem of expanding F1 in the US...

Quote:
He’s not super famous in the United States, he didn’t really come up through the ranks.
https://www.gpfans.com/en/f1-news/10...and-prix-2023/

It's not about Sargent not "coming up through the ranks" - he sure as hell did, it's just that the "ranks" take place in Europe. As-is, you basically need to leave wherever you are and move to Europe if you want a shot at F1... which Logan did. If they want more US drivers and more US hype, they need a more competitive circuit here.

Personally I don't care. I have zero allegiance to Haas or Sargent, nor will I with Andretti/Cadi if they make it. But that seems to be a huge shift compared to the rest of the world where driver/team heritage means a lot more.
