N63T Fuel Injector Extended Warranty

Received my N63T fuel injectors extended limited warranty, 10yrs/120000 miles. Any know issues that may have prompted this? I have had none during my 75000 miles.

How did you receive the extended limited warranty? Is it across the N63TU engine like the HPFP in N54 engines?

I got mine the other day too. I was surprised since I haven't read about the issue on these forums at all.

Not to worry, I don't think it's a common issue. I have yet to hear someone got bad injector on 50i. Even with previous gen. E70 (which was very problematic) people have 170k miles and still going strong. Injectors are not widespread problem on N63TU platform. Mostly plugs/coils.

At least coils and plugs are cheap and a necessity to keep are cars performing well

Now you have. They replaced a coil on one cylinder and an injector on a different cylinder. I think I have a second injector failing as well. The first injector failed at around 32,000 miles.

Hahaha I just got mine Friday, put fuel injector cleaner in, changed oil, drove it hard for 100 miles and bam drivetrain malfunction...limped it home 3 miles.

Buddy come with Carly next day everything led to bank2 hi-pressure low, had long start, and tons of smoke out exhaust upon start. I figured one of the injectors must be stuck wide open.

Pulled #5 plug good....pulled #6 plug good....pulled #7 plug good...pulled #8 and wouldn't you know it soaked in fuel! I was like why the hell does it have to be the back? haha Found out my Route 66 warranty is the "First Street" 3yr/36k and doesn't cover the fuel system!

Just ordered the Bosch 62818 (0261500186) injector off FCP for $92 and then $8 for decoupler.

Now I need to find a new damn warranty company that will cover the fuel system. I hear Fidelity is good 3rd party so I'll see what they offer.

It may be more than that. I thought mine had bad injectors after replacing plugs and coils after misfires. #5 plug was wet and fouled. Took it to dealer who replaced 2 failing injectors under the extended warranty. Still misfires so they did compression test on #5. Failed and cylinder wall scoring-needs a new long block.

Don't ask me how much.

It's not trust me STRAIGHT RAW fuel is spraying out #8 spark plug hole when you crank it over. You can physically see it, feel it on the spark plug tubes, and smell it.

Yes, mine did not have a fuel smell...only oil and carbon. Good luck and hopefully this fixes it. I am worried that we are at the stage where we will start seeing a lot of n63tu issues popping up now that the engine is 4-5 years old. Mine only had 43k on the clock.

Same issue the other day. Plugs and coils didn’t fix it. I saw the extended warranty so I brought it to dealer. They did a compression test and leak down. Found zero compression cylinder 8. New motor requires. $25k! I’ll have to talk to the manager tomorrow.

Same exact thing happened to me this week. Same cylinder even. 10psi compression is what they said. The dealer in my area has been awful the entire time I’ve owned this vehicle. I’m approaching 100k miles, have had oil consumption issues left unaddressed by dealer the entire time…Against my better judgment I took it in for fuel injectors due to extended warranty. plugs/coils replaced not even 2k miles ago. Ran fine until drivetrain malfunction on the highway, randomly. Rough idling after that. Anyway, they quoted me 17k for a new engine. The “tech” sent a video of the engine but no video showing fuel injectors were fine which is why I went. I took it back to my guy (not dealer) and dropped it off for a diagnosis and a full check (I swear the dealership just reads codes and doesn’t look). he’s the one who told me it was injectors. But with holidays and year end he’s swamped so it will likely be there for a couple of weeks and I will be waiting. I also remember a settlement that may cover part of the engine replacement costs based on mileage. Tried to contact BMW corporate for answers on the settlement and they told me I’d have to check my paperwork. Likely a long shot but trying to cover all my bases.

Thanks for bearing with my long story. if you wouldn’t mind please keep me in the loop!
