Winter tire question

What are you guys using for winters? Who's using a square 20" setup on 469 wheels? How has your experience been? Dealer has an 18" kit, but afraid it's gonna look ugly on my ride. Thanks

275/55/18 square set up, rims definitely looks tiny and offset is really sunken in the rear. but at the end of the day its a winter set up so i could care less.

Nokia Hakkapeliitta R2 SUV 255/55/18 run flat mounted on BMW style 446 wheels. Looked pretty tucked last year with the fender flares but just purchased a set of 5/15mm spacers from RG Sport to fix that.

3 winters (going on 4th) with staggered Pirelli Scorpion Snow and Ice on 469's. Perfectly happy with them. Plenty of driving throughout the Intermountain Northwest, ice, packed snow, fresh snow, local in town, interstate highways, whatever. They work great.

I've just purchased a set of Hankook Winter Cept Evo2 tyres for my 20" staggered. These were recommended to me and the 2017 winter tyre reviews have been good. £700 for the set (315 rear and 275 fronts) were a good price as well.
These are being fitted tomorrow so will see how different these are to my 21" Pirelli Pzero RFs.

Wow, I never would have thought they would last 3 winters, let alone 4!
How much mileage do you do?
How is the traction on such a wide tire (esp the 315)?

On 469 wheels? Do you usually have 315s in the summer in the rear? No issues?

Who has 275 in the rear on staggered 469 tires? Any issues with the wider wheel?

Honestly? "Any" dedicated winter tire, especially with the snowflake-on-mountain symbol, will be good/great in the snow IMO/Experience. It's the compound, extra sipes, and tread pattern. Sheer ice, all bets are off.
It's all about how you drive with the tires on. If you swap for the season and will drive on pavement, that's where the difference between brands makes a difference. Ride quality, wear, etc. come into play.
I have been using Blizzaks the past three years. Prior to that, I used Winterforce tires purchased from Tire Rack on the XC90 and have never had an issue with either tire.
"Skinnier is better" when it comes to winter tires, but as others have stated, 315s do just fine, which again, backs up my orig points above.

It was more of a size issue, as I have the staggered 469s that came with the truck, heard some people put 275 in the rear, but not sure how with such a wide wheel.
Dealer has a basic 18" kit for a good price with Pirelli RFTs on OEM wheels, but will not look that great, don't want the truck to look mediocre for 4 months a year...
Other option is 19" replicas...

I have 315's in the rear of my X6 on 469 rims. No problem at all last winter. I drove 8000 miles last winter.

Yeah, with 20x11 in the rear, 275s will be stretched and not a good look as you say. Since you are a seasonal swapper, agree 19" squared setup or staggered 20s are the way to go.

people with 275 rears r most likely running a square rim set up, or put 315 winters on the rear 10" rim. theres no way a 275 can fit on that 10" rear rim without a ghetto stretch.
