Smile Ivory interior + fine American oak trim?

Hi,

Just ordered a F15 M50D in Germany but I had a hard time deciding on the interior trim as the dealer only had small one inch samples (and no X5's). I've gone for the Ivory white dakota seats + fine American oak + leather covered instrument panel (04M5).

I've been trying to find images online and in the few that I've seen the American oak appears very different in every photo depending on lighting etc. Has anyone seen this combo and can comment on it? I'm considering changing it to brushed aluminium as its seems like a safer bet as I've seen it firsthand but it doesn't look very premium to me.

Any advice would be awesome!

Thanks

I went for smoke white with piano black trim which is a great combo. So I would say go piano black with you ivory seats gives a very classy and sporty look.

Thanks! That was actually my first choice but the dealer said it would add another 4 weeks to the delivery due to being an individual option. And I've heard its extremely prone to scratches. Can you confirm either of these in your case?

I had my SUV 10 months now and not a scratch.
It's a much softer and supple leather but feels very luxurious when sat in.
I try to clean them every two weeks to keep the appearance looking new but more than pleased with them.
If you can afford too I would certainly recommend.
If you wish I can send a photo of the combo?

A friend of mine got the individual smoke white (vs my dakota plus leather dash). What I noticed and didnt know before is that in addition to the obvious a) comfort seat headrests are way softer as the leather is softer and hence much more pleasure to use b) seatbelts are black (with dakota theyre whiteish which is nicer for me) c) rear of front seats with individual are different material as well and much more leather like d) individual leather smells better

Also, treat the leather right away, as long as the leather has "moisture" it will be OK. Regrets? Zero, love it. Got bored with mocha (had it before) and wanted to be able to match X6 kneepads color (so that I can retrofit). Individual is in another league. Oh yes, i do have regrets, did not get the optional alcantara headliner

Notice you have the knee pads to the centre console - is yours an X6 or did you buy these? I'm looking at wanting a set but can't find them in Smoke White?

Incredibly beautiful, thank you. AFAIK the part below the optional trim is also a shiny black, is it exactly the same as the piano black or can you see a difference?

No i have the X5. I think they are available in smoke white as well. Go on the bmw.de X6 configurator and see if they have it

No difference at all. Had the trim off when installed the red starter button. Its basically just plain plastic painted in black. Its one part actually. I remember in my e71, indiv piano black seemed like real wood

I've got the exact combo the OP is leaning towards, Dakota Ivory, American Oak, and leather dash. It seemed to me that OP was fine with Dakota Ivory and leather dash, but was unsure if American Oak. It's an individual preference, hence why BMW offer so many choices, but I like the American Oak, I think it contrasts well with the existing gloss black which is there, rather than piano black everywhere.
