F15 M50d - Possible Sign of Injector Failure?
So the car has been running nicely..... until is wasn't!
Been experiencing a rough idle on cold start recently, so decided to give the bimmer-tool a workout on injector mode - and the results seem almost conclusive (injector 1 failure?). However, thoughts welcome! Attached are three logs of injector corrections (which I thought should always be negative), at cold, slightly warm and warm-er (reved whilst stationary). Thoughts welcome! |

nice evaluation. which parameter is this?
injection correction can be used to offset small cylinder performance variations ... doesnt mean necessarily is bad. if correction is outside the limit it will trigger engine light. do you have codes? recommend to use ISTA and look for any ABL related to idle |

I was trying to find the injector correction part of ISTA, but failed miserably! Found the Bimmer-tool (with built in datalogging) on my Pixel Android phone, using the enet cable to be surprisingly reliable!
As for the codes, am getting these: - 290500 - Terminal 15.3, signal: short circuit to positive (status terminal 15.3 on while terminal 15 off) (No idea where to start with this! Need to search for more...) - 24EE00 - Motor bearing, control: short circuit to positive (though think this is miss-labelled in Bimmer-tool - more likely active engine mount solenoid valve?) Also had O2 implausibly high and low codes, but assuming they could be a fall-out of the cylinder 1 injector running high? Have reset all the codes, to see what reappears. As for being outside the limits.... some places said "anything about zero" and others figures of 2-5mg/stk. So just not sure, really! |
