Griots here too. I'll use Interior Cleaner first on areas that have a little more dirt before using their leather cleaner. You can use the leather cleaner only, but you end up using a little more product.

Avoid most of the well known "leather care" products, as they will accelerate degradation of the leather top coat over time. Just because they are popular doesn't mean they are the right choice.

After reading through this thread and the associated links I would chime in very close to Skyracer's comments.
If you have a relatively new car with the leather in good shape - go with a damp cotton towel and keep it clean. My belief is that the vast majority of leather products are snake oil and cause more problems down the road. It is a different story if your leather is already damaged, grossly soiled, dried out, baked in the sun, etc. Otherwise, keep it clean and you will be rewarded. |

musa - on the rare occasion that I "treat" the leather I use the BMW Leather Lotion w/ UV protection - but very sparingly.
We live in the quite hot and low humidity Central Valley of California. Our cars live in an air conditioned garage and never get baked in our blistering sun and heat. That is probably the reason we don't have leather issues and I can get by with a damp cloth so easily. The full leather dash on our X5 M has me thinking (don't laugh) about a dash cover for when we are out on longer trips in the hot months. Last edited by Apple Corps; 07-23-2018 at 07:45 PM.. |

Nextzett Cockpit Premium. Gives a nice matte finish, unlike other greasy/shiny products:

I've tried a lot, and frankly, a clean and damp microfiber does wonder cleaning your leather. If I must use a chemical, then I go with Swissvax.

I use chemical guys leather cleaner/conditioner ( blue bottle spray)
Routine is usually 1. Damp microfiber wipe down all leather surfaces. 2. Spray cleaner/conditioner on microfiber cloth and wipe all surfaces ( work the product in) 3. Clean/dry microfiber cloth, buff all surfaces. Comes looking great on the black leather and with a matte finish. If you skip step 3 it keeps a slight sheen to it. Been using the same on all my cars and when I took the 335 in for a trade in last week the local dealer was suprised how good the condition was for a 7 year old 150k mile bmw. The car spent all its life outdoors |
