Thanks for posting these Matt. One correction, the above is from 2008 for the M57 rather than the N57. I've obtained this document before and would like to find an updated one for the N57, though this doc for the previous generation is still very informative about the emissions systems on the F15 diesels.

Thank you for spotting that. I revised the description. Did you see the link immediately preceding it? It is not emission specific but has a lot of useful detail.

Yes I did and had found that document recently. You're right, it does contain a lot interesting information about the current generation diesels, including a number of specific notations describing differences to the preceding generation.

What I find crazy on the 35d motor, is that it requires over 26,000 psi (1800 bar) of fuel pressure to work the injectors correctly. My Ford Powerstroke diesel requires min 500 psi to start and goes up to 3,600 psi under wide open throttle. I thought that was high pressure.

And try to count the sensors used on this engine.

Amazing stuff. It does not sound like that much more but the M50D takes the pressure up to 2200 bar / 32,000 PSI, which is exponentially more to stressful and complicated to design. Your Ford's entire maximum pressure easily fits in the gap between the 30d/35d and the M50d.

@MattBianco

Is there any chance you have the tech training PDFs for the new B58 and B48 engines?

And thanks for posting these!

My pleasure. You give me far too much credit. All I have done is gather up documents floating around in this great community. I don't have access to any information that is not on the web. I will search and if I come across them, I will certainly post them.

Fantastic. This is great.

I wish BMW would make this documentation more accessible to its car buying public.

If BMW were to give this information to loyal customers, their loyalty would increase exponentially because any competitive manufacturers would have a much weaker bond.

This type of information bonds the customer to the product like super glue.

I gotcha. I've been looking for them for the past month or two on the web. I really enjoy reading them and am curious about some of the more technical changes on the new engines.

Thanks again for posting the ones you did!

Ah, thanks. Yeah, I know what it is, and since some of what you had sourced are from the same series, thought you might be able to get it. No biggie, cheers!

Very nice collection, thank you for taking the time to compile for everyone!

I've been looking for more F85 documentation when I came across all this.

You are most welcome.

That would be nice to have as well, though it may overlap with a good many threads. I'd be happy to contribute to such a thread, but cannot commit (time) to maintaining it.
