EGR Recall 13-01-16

When our '14 X5 35d was in for the 30K service last week they performed a recall described as;

"F15 N57T US program control units EGR A caused by Recall 13-01-16 (DDE Software)"

Anybody know what this did or where I can find details of the recall?

I also just brought in my 2015 35d for it's 30,000 km service, and the dealer informed me I needed a software update for the EGR Recall. I was annoyed they never contacted me sooner, as I am hoping an EGR Recall would better prevent carbon build up.

I'm quite optimistic that an EGR software refinement would help long term reliability (of course - I also question why the recall, or is this recall emissions related not reliability / CBU related).

It was completed on mine a few weeks ago. I couldn't get any details from the dealer to better understand what it did. I also can't tell any difference in performance (probably a good thing). Unfortunately, it wiped my coding.

I had VO Coded both satellite radio and extended bluetooth. Glad to see that coding stayed after the update! (I lost the other coding which I expected, I'll probably leave everything at "default" for now).

Had mine done yesterday hopefully it reduces the duty but I doubt it. The low sulfur fuel these days prevents gunk build up, don't worry gents.

My SA had no clue what it entailed. Still waiting to pick the X5 up; he said the 'recall' has been holding the car up...
