Thermostat

Why does the thermostat automatically turn on everytime i start the car to the last setting?

Is there any way to turn that feature off? So that next time i start the car the thermostat does not automatically turn on to the last set temperature.

Yes, that "feature" can be disabled, but not via the iDrive menus. It requires coding...

Do you mean you have a Mac Book or just no laptop period? If you have a Mac Book, you can still code.
There are some very helpful folks who may be able to help you remotely.
I just don't like taking the risk of potentially doing something stupid to someone else's car over the inter web.

I have a Mac and used it to code my X5 multiple times. Opasha calls this out in the coding thread. You just need virtualization software on your Mac, of which there are free options on the web.

I really don't understand why you wouldn't want this? It's a thermostat that works just like the one in your house... to keep the temperature constant in the midst of outside temperature changes. If the last setting was comfortable when you turned off the X5, why wouldn't it be when you got back in?

Because the thermostat in your house actually turns off the furnace/AC/fan when the temp has reached or is above/below the set temp.
The car env/HVAC system is not that intelligent. In a mild climate (no extremes most of the year), windows up or down is all that's needed. Just another example of the car trying to think too much for me.

Exactly ! Most times i drive off with a window open thats more than sufficient only to realize when it was cool last night i had the heat on.
