I agree! I try to use it, but it leaves too much of a gap between vehicles. It's actually dangerous. People change lanes and get in front of me and it slams on the brakes and when someone is behind me they have to slam on their brakes. When the person behind me drives around me they look at me like I'm crazy wondering why I'm slamming on my brakes! smh

As others said, take your time and know what you want first. It took me 4-5 months to search for the options I wanted and find one for sale across all of Canada (probably the inventory size of 4-5 large US states). Even then I had to give up on the m-sport since I could not find a 7-seater m-sport multicontour-seats winter-package with-acc non-black 50i low-miles warranty-left .... see how it goes.

yeah its a little fawkward at times, it really depends on the traffic situation. I find that in congested free-flowing traffic you tend to be susceptible to cut-offs and such, however in condensed traffic i find the ACC to be amazing, you dont have to touch the pedals back and forth on the gas/brake. so i guess it depends - i find it useful in my daily commute

What's funny, is I thought (never tested) that it wouldn't be as good as a Toyota, Chevy, Ford etc. Just based on the thought that less BMW's are built w/ them.

Can't you set the follow distance? Also, just to reiterate BMW doesn't allow 'normal' cruise control? Once cruise is set you have to use adaptive? Sorry for my ignorance, want to make sure i'm reading that correctly.

Yes but even at the closest setting it's way to far. And it defaults to the furthest without coding. Also the vehicle does not have the ability to do both stock. It needs to be coded to utilize normal cruise and adaptive.

You will be surprised in different parts of the world, the closest setting may be viewed differently. I drove ACC in upstate NY, central PA, Toronto, parts of Europe and the closest setting was just perfect. Infact, that was the usual distance drivers kept in car going highway speeds. Now I drive in Vancouver/Seattle area and I agree with the frustration about people cutting in.

It's actually time you adjust, not distance. You set the ACC to keep 1/2/3/4 seconds behind the car in front. As the speed increases, the distance does as well. So time is constant, not distance.
