Brake Force Flash

For anyone wondering what the brake force flash option looks like when you're coding.

I really like it, and I think it grabs your attention more than just "more brake lights".

Didn't work on mine. I tested it a few times and it threw out an error every time I slammed on the brakes. I don't remember what it was as it was a while ago, so I gave up.

I don't think you can, the US spec tail light on the X5 not have the bottom led light (where the rear fog lights are), its blank, you cant even retrofit the rear fog light switch like you can on the F01 7 series or F10 5 series.

I actually did it through the Bimmercode app.

And, I think you CAN code rear fog lights on, but its not the same as the Euro lights.

It’s under BDC... I coded my X5 with Bimmercode as well. You can choose a minimum speed and the break force that will activate it.

Correction, the flashing does work but I get an error message on the head unit when it activates. Has anyone found a way around this?

I coded it to my X6 I have the same issue though getting a "lighting system malfunction" after talking to bimmer code this is the response I got "Hi,
this coding does not work for the X6 and this is why it is not included in the basic coding mode also."

Is this not possible on US spec? I coded the flashing and hazards to come on and this morning I got the lighting system malfunction warning and no hazards. I haven’t confirmed if the flashing operates yet or if it just threw the error.

Is there a workaround or should I just code back to default and forget it?

This worked flawlessly on my f30 so it’s a little disappointing if it can’t work.

Is the coding in the same control modules? If not, that may be the reason. Some earlier BMWs lighting is controlled by the FRM….and later BMWs may be controlled by the BDC, FEM,or REM control module.

FRM coding may work whereas BDC or FEM or REM may or may not work.

The coding parameters look to be the same, however no they’re not the same modules. I coded this into the REM on my f30, and it’s in the BDC in my f15. Same process but different modules.

I can't find the thread rn but if I remember correctly for US spec model it required additional module to be added in order to emulate this feature. Or you will need euro spec taillights.

That’s interesting, although it doesn’t seem that’s for the brake force display.

I did confirm that when I had flashing and hazards coded it didn’t function and I got an error on the screen. I removed the hazard coding and left the flashing and still got the error.

So I reverted the coding to stock and activated hazards and the system functions as expected, so it’s just the flashing that doesn’t seem to work.

Now this evening I finished my rear fog retrofit and I’m understanding from previous posts that by doing this I will lose my brake force display, so I’ll be testing this to see if I still have my stock brake force or if I lost it, but my hazards still come on after an emergency stop.
