Are the members on here satisfied with the oem bars?
I need to install a set of bars for snowboards and have gone with whispbars in the past but exploring options for something a bit more attractive or priced better.

I got a great price via eBay (a BMW dealer in the SW if I recall correctly). Install/removal takes 5mins tops with no tools, so that's a bonus.

How much did you pay? I have a very good relationship with the dealership I service with but I still get charged tax so I am curious if the discount is enough to offset shipping costs.

$160 shipped. I'm in OR, so no sales tax ever.

Basically what my dealer quoted... $161.50 but I would have to pay tax.

If you mount the box too far rearward so it covers the Sirius antenna it will cause satellite to loose signal periodcally, somewhat like inside garage or going through a tunnel.

However, you don't have to buy it from dealership. There's many places that sell OEM BMW X5 crossbars. I've seen it from $170 to $250+ 1. https://www.amazon.com/BMW-F15-only-.../dp/B00FYYDDWE 2. https://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-X5-F15-...UAAOSwLVZVgtJF 3. https://www.pelicanparts.com/More_In...-2-232-293-BOE 4. https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...s/82712232293/ Basically the OEM BMW part # is 82712232293 - you can buy it whenever you'll find it. You can also order it from your dealer if they don't have it on website. |

OEM Cross Bars with yakima skybox carbonite 18
Yakima skybox 18 provides plenty of additional cargo space. Love the look of the carbonite.

I have a Thule hyper Xl, I got it from Thule.com but I found a guy that had a 50% off coupon that I paid a few dollars to so I saved a lot.

Also just picked up a Thule Motion XT XL at REI. They have them back in stock. Normal retail pricing.
Great set-up. Excited for the next road trip. |

Looks great! For road trips with a family this is a must have! We came from an MDX and honestly the X5 has less cargo space than the Acura….. I love thenX5 driving dynamics - but when you're trying to fit all kinds of stuff for yourself and a few kids on a long road trip you need the box!!!
