You shouldn't have to add 5AR and VO code if you do the FDL coding. One or the other will work.

When you VO code an ECM module, the system looks at your list of installed options (such as 5AR) and sets all of the values within that ECM based on what it believes the vehicle was ordered with. So if you add 5AR and the VO code the modules, it will set the values needed to enable TJA

Alternatively, you can just set the values yourself by FDL coding. It produces the same result.

For example, adding 5AR and then VO coding the KOMBI module will make the following values "aktiv":
KOMBI 3004 DISP_CC_DRASY_ALIVE
KOMBI 3004 DISP_CC_DRASY_CRC
KOMBI 3004 DISP_CC_DRASY_TIMEOUT
KOMBI 3004 DISP_DRASY_ALIVE
KOMBI 3004 DISP_DRASY_APPL
KOMBI 3004 DISP_DRASY_CRC
KOMBI 3004 DISP_DRASY_TIMEOUT
KOMBI KL_PREDRIVE_F17_STA
KOMBI STA_ENABLE

Or you can use the FDL editor and change the values yourself. You don't need to do both.
Quick edit to this post as it was a bit incomplete.
KOMBI 3000 KL_PREDRIVE_F17_STA - aktive
KOMBI 3003 STA_ENABLE - aktive

but I have coded all of these and still get the TJA error and steering wheel error on my display.

I’m referring to people adding the aftermarket Quidzel touch module and coding without buying a new steering wheel, like maverick and spike have done.

The existing button set that came with ACC S&G works just fine. The bottom right button is re-purposed to activate TJA. The top right button now just toggles through the ACC distance settings, instead of only providing the "decrease distance" function.

It functions just as the manual describes (congestion assistant in the manual)

Without the Quidzel chip, you need touch enabled steering wheel, touch module and wiring harness.

Optionally you can also buy the correct button group, but it isn't necessary for TJA to function.

Did you do the BDC_BODY and ICM coding? I also VO coded the KAFAS2 module, but not sure that was necessary.

Ya I did all the FDL on that list. Do you hold down the Decrease distance button to activate or just press it?

Ya I tried it when I first coded. First time I got an error while sitting in the driveway. Then nothing happened after that but I still had the steering wheel emblem kit up on the dash.

Now I let it sit and all the lights on the dash went out despite NOT being able to clear them with BimmerLink. I'll give it a whirl again tomorrow now that the lights are all out.

Nope. Still get the malfunction. But I didn't check all the coding. Will take a look after work tomorrow.

Nope. The guy from the company asked me to unplug and replug in the chip from the harness with the car on and see if the orange triangle goes away in hopes to "sync" it with the car

Bummer. Maybe you should try the FA/VO coding route.

Can you clarify that all you eventually ended up needing was the TJA module, its cable and Quidzel chip for your DIY (basically not getting a new steering wheel)? Or do you just need the Quidzel chip only and dont even need the TJA module?

Only need Quidzel chip. Car must also have ACC+stop and go and drivers assistance package with lane departure warning et al.

Nope. Been super busy so haven't dug into more with the holiday etc. but now every time I start the car I get an ACC warning which is annoying cuz it will turn off the reverse camera right in the middle of me backing up which is unnerving.

I'll try and take a look tonight to get it going.

Bought and just installed the chip. Hope to code tonight. Was actually quite easy to install - pop airbag (did not disconnect airbag or battery), and was able to access connector without taking even a single screw off since I didn’t have the paddle shifters.

My car does have the ACC stop & go function and lane departure warning as well. But in order to get traffic jam assistant, we have to buy and instill this Quidzel chip?

The chip just makes it so you don't have to buy the special steering wheel and touch sensor. It tells the system your hand is on the whee.

The coding is what gives the car traffic jam assist and yes only works if you have ACC.
